Several U.S. personnel were injured in a missile attack Saturday night by Iranian-backed rebels on Al-Asad Airbase in Iraq, the Pentagon said.

At about 6:30 p.m. local time, multiple ballistic missiles and rockets were fired by Iranian-backed militants from western Iraq, U.S. Central Command said in a statement posted on social media.

The base's air defense systems intercepted "most of the missiles," but "others impacted the base," CENTCOM reported.

Multiple U.S. personnel were being evaluated for traumatic brain injuries, CENTCOM said, and at least one Iraqi soldier was also wounded. No further details were immediately provided.

Simple. Biden hasn’t found a way to completely abandon installations there and withdraw forces yet - leaving billions/trillions of equipment there. He’ll pull that out later this year for more distraction from the economy, border and victim-pandering leftist actions.

All those bases and all that projected power isnt about “democracy” or the ‘international rules based order” - it’s ultimately about keeping the US dollar as the world’s reserve currency because without that the whole house of cards collapses.

Two wars and the largest US embassy in the world. why are we still there?

That's a very good question. I mean, we deposed Saddam and then, I was assured by then-President Bush, had ushered in democracy for those freedom-loving people. Mission accomplished, and all that.

If Biden does oversee the final disintegration of the GAE, I suppose that'll be one good thing he'll have accomplished.

Why thank you - since I was only 5 or so when he was elected, he must have recognized my potential for valor, honor, and military acumen fairly early.

That word “rebels” has a connotation of its own. We see them differently when they are called that.
