Ron DeSantis is seeking an 'off-ramp' from his 2024 campaign, according to reports, following a disappointing performance in Iowa - buoyed by the promise from Trump supporters to back him in 2028.
Speaking on Tuesday in South Carolina, DeSantis said that Trump voters in Iowa had told him they would support him in four years.
'They were coming up to me saying, "We want you in 2028, we love you, man," he said.
He told a similar story on NBC News.
Andrew Romeo, the DeSantis campaign's communications director, said DeSantis was in the race 'for the long haul,' through South Carolina and beyond.

He don’t need an off-ramp, he needs one of those places for semis that are rolling out of control
It happened for me when he took Uni Party money to fund his campagin. I could overlook the stab in the back to trump as disgusting as it was. This is because politics is a blood sport and after firmly getting beat, he could once again pledge to firmly support the nominee. Its who he took his money from. This one action was a lot louder in showing Rons true colors.
There is nothing conservative about him. He gave that away when he shook hands with the Uni Party Rinos.
Are you the Bee.?
>>”We had a once in a generation opportunity to rally behind an actual conservative...”
Your knowledge of recent history is lacking. There’s nothing “once in a generation” about DeSantis. He’s the same old establishment candidate that the party has been using to string republican voters along for years. They’re big on promises. Some of them even have some record of accomplishment in their states that they pretend will translate to success on the presidential level. DeSantis is the same old same old. A DeSantis presidency would result in a lot of disappointment and the same old list of excuses we’ve grown to be accustomed to from Republicans.
You’re the same old Never Trump voter who is oblivious to Trump’s accomplishments. Your head will remain firmly stuck up your backside. It is what it is.
My apologies. That comment was not meant for you.
WAY too late. He’s torpedoed his own political future.
No worries!!!
golden eagle once again, tries to gaslight and fool FR...
Once again, the poster says things as if they are fact, but they are never backed or based on any evidence.
Remember... golden eagle was one of the posters that was pushing Trump was considering haley for v.p....
using team desantis war room tweets.
I call B.S.!!
Descrewus...is at it again.
The civil war goes hot. And the "elections" become an irrelevant sideshow. Control of police and military forces will be the only important factor left.
He is just a Dirty Bird and has been booted a couple times for his extreme TDS.
You’re still wrong about this. Once again, just yesterday, Trump refused to completely rule Haley out as his VP. Just be honest about it.

“She is not presidential timber,” Mr. Trump said at a campaign event in Concord, N.H. “Now, when I say that, that probably means that she’s not going to be chosen as the vice president.”
If DeSantis had skipped 2024 and endorsed Trump, he would have been the VP candidate.
And the frontruner for 2028, win or lose in 2024.
Instead, he took the donor’s money, believed the consultant’s lies, and angered a large number of previous supporters who will never vote for him.
Terrible political judgement. And it’s probably best he not get the nomination in future.
Yup. He screwed the pooch on his hopes for 2028.
He's OFF my list... even for "Dog Catcher!"
Good point.
Bingo!
Wrong. If you actually look into it, their feud goes back to 2020, and started over Covid response. It escalated when Trump promised to host the RNC convention in Jacksonville, Florida, but then reneged, and even took DeSantis's speaking spot away. Trump was calling DeSantis names even before the 2022 election. DeSantis isn't subservient enough to be Trump's VP, and they both know it.
