Mayor Eric Adams’ administration is set to unveil its latest round of migrant belt-tightening on Tuesday — after rolling back several controversial budget cuts and promising the city’s library system will be spared further reductions.
The mayor and his team are set to brief the City Council at around 1:30 p.m. and present the preliminary 2025 fiscal year budget, which has been expected to come with a 5% spending reduction at city agencies.
The cuts would mark round two of three 5% slashes the mayor’s office has said are necessary to close the budget gap created by the migrant crisis that has brought nearly 170,000 new arrivals to the shelter system since spring 2022.

This is a humanitarian crisis ,but it’s funny politically.
It’s funny politically to see these big city Democrat mayors publicly criticizing the policies of their own Democrat president, which has created this crisis in the first place.

When all the New Yorkers were voting for open borders, I don’t think they were very concerned about El Paso’s libraries. Those New Yorkers can each cry us river and staunch the flow of tears by voting MAGA in November.

I had the same thought. It would be funny to see liberals face the result of their policies if it were not so damaging to our nation.
What I find interesting, is that these politicians would NEVER EVER think of cutting spending to help benefit Joe tax-payer. But when it comes to illegal invaders of our country (new found votes for democrats), by all means necessary, they will cut spending on non-illegal invader budget items. Pathetic...
Library budgets should be the first to be cut. Libraries are obsolete mausoleums. Not to mention the library association is run by a self avowed Marxist queer who sees the role of libraries as communist indoctrination gulags.
Deal with the migrant problems the Marxist Dems have given us but we still have 200 thousand combat age Chinese in our Country who no one knows who or where they are. Thanks rinos and marxist dems.
Libraries are the LAST thing we need to spend money on in the age of the Internet. Everything is at your fingertips on the worldwide web.
This is like spending big money on horse-drawn buggy barns.
We don’t need physical libraries anymore.
University types can easily steal and plagiarize, from the Internet, everything they need to snag fraudulent degrees.
Besides, there are plenty of people for hire to write your college papers so you don’t have to do any research, know how to spell or be able to write coherently.
What a joy to live in an age when lazy morons can impersonate scholars for just a few dollars!
