As RedState reported, Fani Willis finally responded to the allegations that she hired the man she was having an affair with to be a special counsel in her office. For some reason, she decided to give her remarks in front of a black church congregation. In doing so, she interspersed claims of racial persecution with a total disregard for her moral and professional failures.
In other words, she's in full panic mode.
WILLIS: God, why don't they look at themselves and just be honest? I mean, they can't keep it a hundred with themselves? Why are they surprised that a diverse team I assembled, your child, can accomplish extraordinary things? God, wasn't it them who attacked this lawyer of impeccable credentials?
Nothing makes me cringe more than when a politician who has obviously engaged in immoral acts starts using God as a prop to defend their behavior. That is exactly what Willis is doing. Instead of taking responsibility for the fact that she allegedly had an affair and then hired her "lover" to be a special counsel in a completely improper and unethical fashion, she's citing God and playing the victim.
It'd be different if Willis was apologetic, or in a religious context, repentant. She hasn't shown an ounce of contrition, though. Instead, she's doing what Democrat politicians who aren't white always do: Claim racism.
Willis pointed out during her speech that the other two prosecutors assigned to the case, Anna Green Cross and John Floyd, both are white, and noted that allegations have only emerged targeting the two prominent black members of the prosecution — her and Wade.
“Isn’t it them playing the race card when they constantly think I need someone from some other jurisdiction in some other state to tell me how to do a job I’ve been doing almost 30 years?” she asked.
Green Cross and John Floyd, the other special counsels, are indeed white. They also didn't have an affair with Willis, which is the entire crux of the matter. So while the audience she was speaking to nodded along, I don't think any fair-minded person would agree with her framing.
But according to Willis' alternate reality, if only she were white, no one would care that she hired her boy-toy to a high-level professional role while prosecuting the former President of the United States. Her evidence for that? She provides none because there is none. There is no reason to think race has anything to do with the criticisms being levied at her.
In fact, there may be reason to believe that her race has helped her avoid scrutiny, which is what we saw with former Harvard President Claudine Gay. It was only after multiple allegations of plagiarism were levied in addition to her antisemitism scandal that she was finally forced out. That happened long after a white university president who did the same thing in the same hearing had already resigned.
Think about how arrogant Willis had to be to put herself in this position. When you decide to try to throw a former president in jail on specious charges, you better have your own house in order. That is not the time to start mixing your affairs with work, yet Willis did it anyway. I can only assume she felt she'd get away with it, and perhaps she will. She's panicking, though, and it's obvious.

My guess to paraphrase Fani “is that no one is perfect (100 percent honest). So you know since we all sinners all you white folks should look the other way bc my cause is just.”

Jesse Jackson Jr. Says Church Politicking 'Supersedes the Law'
It may be against federal election law to campaign in church. But for Democrats seeking to get out the vote in minority districts, politicking from the pulpit has become indispensable.
In the last days of this year's campaign, Vice President Al Gore, Senate candidate Hillary Clinton and her husband have all made regular appearances at African-American and Hispanic churches.
Even when parishioners objected to Mrs. Clinton campaigning from the altar at a Rochester, N.Y., Catholic church last week, the rules were not enforced. Those who didn't like it were simply ejected by police while the first lady continued her campaign speech.
Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr., whose namesake is both a reverend and one of the Democratic Party's most vocal boosters, was challenged on the issue Monday during a Tennessee radio interview on WLAC-AM by "Nashville This Morning" hosts Steve Gill and Terry Hopkins.
GILL: Let me ask you about this. It's against IRS regulations for politicians to campaign from the pulpit. Why are these politicians campaigning in black churches?
JACKSON: I'm not totally convinced that's true in the African-American community. Certainly there's a separation of church and state. But in our community there's little distinction between our religion and our politics. ... And so in many African-American churches born out of experience in this country, the role of the churches has evolved into a very, very active political institution which has been very effective for a number of causes in the black community.
HOPKINS: And that supersedes the law?
JACKSON: Absolutely. Oh, absolutely.

For the story behind the story... Only Democrats Are Allowed to Campaign in Churches
Anti-religious zealots and hypocrites who don't object when the likes of John Kerry and Al Sharpton and Bill Clinton and Al Gore and Jesse Jackson and Jimmy Carter campaign in churches are feigning outrage that President Bush dares to do the same thing.
An e-mail from Luke Bernstein of the Bush-Cheney campaign's office in Pennsylvania asks churchgoers to organize "Friendly Congregations" to promote the president's re-election.
"I'd like to ask if you would like to serve as a coordinator in your place of worship," the message says. "We plan to undertake activities such as distributing general information/updates or voter registration materials in a place accessible to the congregation."
Kevin Madden, a spokesman for the campaign, said: "People of faith feel strongly about the president, are people we want to be part of our campaign. This message is intended to be from individual to individual. This is organizing with individuals who may be members of a church who we hope to identify as supporters and be part of our efforts."
The Internal Revenue Service supposedly bans tax-exempt organizations such as churches from politicking, but Jackson and other Democrats have violated that regulation for decades with impunity. Kerry has recently campaigned and staged photo opportunities at several churches. The New York Times and wire stories attacking the Bush campaign's strategy today refused to mention those facts.
How dare Republicans do what Democrats are allowed to do. Barry Lynn, head of a group that calls itself Americans United for Separation of Church and State, raged, "I have never in my life seen such a direct campaign to politicize American churches."
And she just now decides to do something illegal?

Correct! And, that’s MY point. She’s kept her skirts clean (relatively speaking) for 28 years. Now, she’s effectively branded herself as an out and out goofball the rest of her life to say nothing of major financial liability and the possibility of prison (felony). To me, what she has done suggests some sort of head problem. Depression? Drugs? Blackmail? Whatever?
