A United States Air Force fighter pilot training to be a Top Gun has been crowned Miss America.
Madison Marsh, 22, who comes from Fort Smith, Arkansas, won the top award at a ceremony in Orlando, Florida on Sunday night.
Second Lt Marsh was crowned Miss Colorado in May 2023 before competing in the finals to scoop the top award. Marsh is the first active duty officer from any branch of the military to represent at the national level of the Miss America organization.
This year's runner-up is Miss Texas, Ellie Breaux who would be called to step in if Marsh is unable to complete a full year of service.
Miss Indiana Cydney Bridges came third, Miss Kentucky Mallory Hudson placed fourth while Miss Rhode Island Caroline Parente came fifth.
Fifty-one contestants participated in the event, representing all 50 US states, as well as the District of Columbia.

Now that I didn't know -- missed it.
So the Israelis have female fighter pilots for the same stupid PC reason? Or is it cultural -- (almost) everyone serves, some women choose Air Force, and some of them qualify to fly? Are their standards lower for women?
For that matter, are US Air Force standards lower for women pilots?
One more note: Another thing unique about this forum unlike leftscum ones — respectful dialog and sometimes some of us admit when we (me in this case) were wrong. :^)
As we have seen, you cannot have women in the military without them eventually forcing themselves into every area of it and eventually corroding and eroding and changing what it was under men to a place that fits women.
Well said, Sir!
Think of the fighter aircraft sent into the air in the 1910s. Or the 1940s. Or the 1950s. Or the 1960s. Or 1991. Or the 2000s.
Whatever
Why don’t you go find urself a gay forum then.
IT’S A RECRUITING TOOL!!!!
Miss Colorado makes history as she becomes first serving US soldier EVER to be crowned Miss America: Air Force pilot, 22, training to be Top Gun fighter pilot after graduating from Harvard
How many errors can you fit into the title?
This isn’t fifty years ago when you could speculate and voice an opinion of what MIGHT happen, we allowed women in, and now we are seeing the result.
It was done and what we are seeing now is what came of it, and it is going to get far worse until the day comes when we are finally defeated in a major War and conquered.
Airman implies enlisted
In the past, perhaps. Not any longer. The term is used for any USAF member.
So stupid.... Air Force doesn’t have a “Top Gun”.... these reporters and editors that have never sniffed a military base are just squawking about crap they see on movies....
How pretty or how handsome a pilot is doesn’t do squat when making a low level run or dodging missles....
Yeah fellas, join up and you get a chance to bang this beauty.... what a crock of sh#t.
This is now “war as entertainment and reallity show”.
and she’s a BMF besides...
Or daddy has a big wallet
Top gun is for naval aviators. Air Force has their own school.
“So the Israelis have female fighter pilots for the same stupid PC reason?”
Probably. Israel is a pretty liberal place. And women are highly qualified to fly most planes. Many make outstanding pilots. Fighters are a somewhat different animal. I don’t know how much dogfighting actually goes on any more or how much weight is put to it.
I’d bet it IS still true that women pilots are more likely to get out early or be put in fast-track staff positions than men, and that experienced pilots are an expensive asset to lose.
All things said, the modern military doesn’t give a damn if women on average are worse fighter pilots. Heck, our political leadership thinks women have penises...
We don’t know because there wasn’t a biologist around to explain to us what a "Woman" is."
Que Crocadile Dundee...
If anyone took that seriously then we would have fighter squadrons full of eskimo women.
It's difficult for me to tell how far Lt Marsh is in her flight training. From what I can tell from photos and Wiki, she's yet to earn her wings. I could easily be wrong, corrections invited.
Astrophysics degree from the AF Academy? She's smart and driven and competes. She'll be a success, and what a great role model for American girls and young women.
