I am hunkered down in my motel room for a final night of MAGA FRiendship. Primitive camping and then backpacking/hiking are in my immediate future. Near Wickenburg for starters, so weather will not be an issue.
A train ride with a room wouldn’t be a bad way to travel across the country.
I took a round trip to DC, to Bush’s 2000 Inauguration, but did not get a room.
I took 3 round trips from IL to CA, in the spring of 2012, as I began my rookie hiking season, but did not get a room.
Never again... I would travel by rail, but only by getting a room.
One can also get a rail pass for better options with a room added to the trip.
Guessing... a long distance round trip- $300-$400. With a room (add $1,500) that will include meals at about $25-$35 a serving. Duration of 24-48 hours depending on circumstances, route, issues, etc.

My S-I-L won’t fly either, so my brother had to drive from Middleboro (next town over from Lakeville) to Golden, Colorado for a wedding.
I’ve ridden the bike from Boston to West Virginia, but that was long ago when I was a LOT younger. LOL

Why I was wondering what happened to her and Don Jr is they were supposed to be speaking at an event in IA that RSBN was covering and they never showed up.
Middleboro is where my DIL grew up and where they 1st lived when they moved to MA about 15 years ago from AZ.
We thought of driving back there years ago but didn’t have the time when we both were working, now we are just too dang old to drive that far.
Feel for your brother, a very long trip to make and just as long to get back.😁
Our Kari is on speaking with John now.
She is an Iowa native and feels that the weather will not stop folks from caucusing for Trump.
We’ll see if it even matters. lol The voting goes on for almost 2 months which was a compromise between Iowa wanting to be first and Biden flipping it to South Carolina.
It was a great wedding though.
My hubby and I flew.
But that was in 2007. Now I’m not thrilled to fly anymore.

Listening to Kari being interviewed by John. Yesterday, during an interview, Kari revealed that she is the youngest of nine kids. Her family weren’t farmers but did live in the country, surrounded by farms.
