“When did Congress declare war on Yemen? Or Houthis? When was an American vessel attacked?”

To defeat the Soviets the United States patrolled the global oceans and made free trade possible for everyone. The last 80 years or so has been the most peaceful and prosperous in human history. But since the Soviet Union fell the United States has been backing away from the role of maintaining peace and trade.

By blocking trade through the Suez Canal, the Houthis may cause famine and financial collapse in the more vulnerable countries. It won’t help the finances of the US and its allies either. What is America’s interest? Well, there are a lot of things that will affect us. As people starve, they tend to get on boats to South America so they can eventually get across our non-existent southern border. From there they will go on welfare. All we have to do to prevent potentially millions of people coming here to vote Democrat is bomb a few Houthis. I say, “let the bombing commence.”

The U.S. and the Soviet Union were actually on friendly terms when it came to free passage on the open seas. The 1956 Suez Canal Crisis, for example, saw an odd set of bedfellows where Israel, Great Britain and France were opposed by Egypt, the U.S., and the Soviet Union.

But since the Soviet Union fell the United States has been backing away from the role of maintaining peace and trade.

After the Soviet Union fell, the U.S. government has effectively been owned by competing Islamic factions -- between the Sunnis (the Bush/Cheney/McCain cabal) and the Shi'ites (the Democrats).
