Former President Trump on Wednesday suggested he knows who’s in the running as his vice presidential pick should he win the GOP nomination.
Trump attended a Fox News town hall in Iowa, where anchor Martha MacCallum asked who would be in contention to join him on the Republican ticket.
“Well I can’t tell you that really. I mean, I know who it’s going to be,” Trump said.
Asked if he’d be willing to consider any of the people who ran against him in the primary, Trump indicated he would.
“I’ve already started to like Christie better,” Trump quipped, a reference to former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) dropping out of the primary race earlier in the day and criticizing fellow candidate Nikki Haley in the process.
NBC News reported that a Trump campaign adviser clarified that nothing is finalized in terms of a vice presidential pick.
Trump is the dominant frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination, maintaining a comfortable lead in national and state-level polling dating back to when he announced his candidacy in November 2022.
Polling averages from The Hill/Decision Desk HQ show Trump leading his GOP rivals by 53 percentage points in national surveys, by 36 points in Iowa and by 11 points in New Hampshire.
Trump has largely been mum about who he might choose as a running mate, though he has named South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) as an option he’d consider. The former president is not expected to pick his previous running mate and vice president, Mike Pence, for another campaign.
Trump allies have pushed for a female running mate, with Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.), Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R) and Haley among others mentioned.
Trump looked Presidential in that town hall. He was baited more than once and refused to take the bait. If he stays on message (Biden’s bad economy, wars, invasion at our southern border, high prices, etc.) he’ll win.
Exactly. Been saying that for a while. It gonna be a long four more years.
Agree on female ... I think MTG or Stefanik. Both have bigger balls than most of Congress.
He draws the hatred from them simply because he’s an outsider. They don’t like anyone coming in messing up their sandbox as there’s too big a chance he’ll expose their evil secrets.
Fantastic
It could also be Rand Paul. Either would be fine by me. He and Kennedy had a meeting yesterday so of course everyone is talking that now.
Last time, Trump relied too much on advisors.
Not Vivek as VP. He’s too much of a used car salesman and throws tantrums. He’d be ok in the admin but not VP.
He could do worse, Laz!!
I liked Donalds from the start but he needs more experience standing up to the old cronies. He would be a good choice though and someone who could one day be POTUS. Hate playing the ol’ race card but the black community is starting to see the light so this might be the perfect time.
Hint? What hint?
I get a kick out of these folks who mention Gabbard as a possible running mate with Trump. She’s a gun-grabbing leftist.
Because she “left” the democrat party, doesn’t make her a Conservative. She’s pro amnesty, pro reparations, anti electoral college. What’s to like?
Reminds me of a man putting on a dress, and calling himself a woman. Gabbard is a democrat.
Ben Carson brings very little political help IMHO. but I love him. If one thinks Trump Jr. is running in ‘28 then Carson could make sense, and he would probably help with the black vote.
LOL😀
From the little I’ve seen and read, and this could be smoke and mirrors, Pompeo seems a little too Uni Party for my liking.
Wait till Trump picks Nikki Haley as his VP! Boy the die hard Trump believers will have a meltdown..
I also like Daniels but he’s from Florida so a no go.
Yes I don’t see Trump picking anyone from the list that’s being bandied about. I’m have always felt like it would be Mike Flynn. My personal pick is Rand Paul. But not likely to happen.
You know about the starter.
The VP pick will be all about the finisher.
There’s no way he’s going to pick a two-term Congress-woman (MTG) over a Governor (Kristi Noem). It may not be either of them, but if it’s down to the two of them, it’s not going to be MTG.
