An arctic blast will plunge most of the United States into "dangerously cold" territory this weekend, and maps shared by AccuWeather and the National Weather Service (NWS) reveal which states can expect to get hit the hardest by the arctic weather—one of which will face temperatures up to 60 degrees below zero.
The frigid air will spread southward across the U.S. this weekend following a series of winter storms that brought gusty winds, cold temperatures and heavy precipitation to most of the nation this week, including snow in Hawaii.

Yup. I unload it all into coolers and bins and put them in the car outside (in the unlikely event there are critters) then can defrost and clean it at my leisure.

It was SO cold, that I saw a fire hydrant flag down a dog for relief!

At least once a year. The mountain peaks of Haleakala, Mauna Loa, and Mauna Kea get the lion’s share of snow throughout the year, often dropping their temperatures below freezing when there’s a snowstorm. During Hawaii’s winter season that runs from December to February, snowfall is more frequent. The peak of Mauna Kea is known to occasionally receive snow dusting even during Hawaii’s dry season from May to October. Depending on the snowstorm’s strength, snow could linger anywhere between 3 and 6 days.
On April 6, 1938, Mount Haleakala experienced the first-biggest snow covering to as much as six inches.
In December 2016, residents near Mauna Kea experienced snowfall when the mountain’s tip was capped by over two feet of snow.
In January 2021, Hawaii’s three snow mountains had their second-biggest snow covering since the monitoring started in 2000. (Oops!)

Which one is going to be colder on the inside after 8 hours?
The temperatures were 10-15 degrees colder in February 2021, below freezing temperatures penetrated as far south as Monterrey, Mexico, and there was a snow and ice storm.
They will be the same, although the second car will get to the lower temperature FASTER.
One year I happened to drive thru Casper WY during the first snow of the season there.
I had to double check to see if I was in Florida, because there were so many cars slid off the road!

It kicked in with a thermo switch set at 35°.
As the goats were little heat engines themselves, it had to get pretty cold outside the box before it ever had to operate.
They also had a resting platform with a south facing window made from a re-cycled shower door installed sideways.
That was a coveted spot when the sun was shining!

I remember 75/76 being worse. I was in boarding school and the sprinkler pipes froze in a room leading out of my dorm. Turned it into a veritable skating rink for a few days.
