The US Navy shot down 21 Houthi missiles and drones launched from Yemen, according to a statement from US Central Command, in one of the largest Houthi attacks to take place in the Red Sea in recent months.

The military called it a “complex attack” carried out by the Iranian-backed militants.

The barrage, launched at about 9:15 p.m. Tuesday in Yemen, included 18 one-way attack drones, two anti-ship cruise missiles and one anti-ship ballistic missile, Central Command said.

Two US destroyers, as well as F-18 fighter jets from the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower aircraft carrier, participated in the combined effort to shoot down the missiles and drones, according to Central Command. The HMS Diamond, an air defence destroyer from the UK’s Royal Navy, was also part of the effort.

Got a question for the militarily-savvy folks here: How cost effective is this strategy of shooting down their missiles and drones with our own? Is this something that economically feasible for the long-run or will it become untenable after some indefinite period of time?

Shooting down Houthi missiles in the Red Sea. How much is that costing the taxpayers five thousand miles away? What about the 300,000 military age male invaders walking over the U.S. southern border in the month of December alone? It isn’t either/or—it’s and. Then we get told the U.S. Navy is very busy defending our safety and freedom dontcha know. Well damn my lying eyes.

In the days of Ronaldus Maximus such an attack would invite a devastating, if measured, response.

See Operation Praying Mantis.

I wish we had a Secretary of Defense.

The one we have has had his head removed from his ass and now it is cancerous.

Unless the nest is destroyed, the vipers will continue to sting. Put another way the deployment of 100 million dollars worth of sophisticated defensive weaponery to stop 1 million dollars worth of rudimentary drones and antiquated missiles is not sustainable. Plus the US Navy is demonstrating to sophisticated not well meaning observers just how its defensive weaponery is deployed.

It is something like a 1:10 cost ratio and not in our favor.

An immediate response should be targeting Yemen’s port and naval infrastructure.

Anything that floats should become a coral reef.

The real question here is, how long before we start sending better missiles to land on the Houthis in country?

A bunch of non state combatants are making a problem for the Biden cabal, and Joe needs to know how much more cash they want to pause the attacks. (Less 10% of course for brand support of the Biden Brand)

In the days of Dwight D Eisenhower Ronaldus Maximus such an attack on the U.S. mainland would invite a devastating if measured, response from an aircraft carrier stationed on Mexico's coastline.

Fixed.

Where are our SEAL teams?

This seems like the kind of problem they could fix.

[It is something like a 1:10 cost ratio and not in our favor.]

At least. Or worse.

Very cost-effective for Iran and the terrorists.

Not really. Our air defense systems are designed for large, expensive threats. We need (but do not currently have) air defense systems tailored for small, cheap threats. An administration that wants to make America great again would direct its military-industrial complex to develop such things.

Our ships aren’t manned by Russians.
