My Mother was a very devout Roman Catholic. I remember talking to her one time about abortion and I asked her: “If you knew that by delivering me as your baby you were going to die during the delivery would you have done it?” She said “Yes”.
My dear friend is one of identical twins. During pregnancy, the doc told the babies’ mother they had to be aborted or she would die. No doubt about it. She made the decision to carry them full term if possible, and take her chances.
The girls and the mother were/are fine.
“She said “Yes”.
Some women do not. And there is no right or wrong on the answer. Someone is going to die in that case. Depends on if the woman wishes to trade for the child. And not all children are born healthy. So how do you make that decision? In your mom’s case, it is possible that her being the religion she was at the time might have had a part in her decision as Catholics to my knowledge have been stringent opponents of abortion and birth control.
