Reston Man Accused of Fabricating Stabbing to Cover Up Embezzlement

Fawad Fafa told police he was stabbed in the Dulles Town Center mall parking lot on Nov. 10, but police say he fabricated the story to cover up embezzlement.

Fafa had a long cut on his arm and two smaller scratches on his forehead and leg, according to a criminal complaint filed by Detective Michael A. Grimsley of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office. Fafa, who worked at the Sports Nation sporting goods store in the mall, initially said he was attacked but later admitted he invented the story, the complaint said.

“He advised that he had self-inflicted the wounds with a piece of glass,” Grimsley wrote. “He had done this in an attempt to further cover up him embezzling from his employer.”

A second complaint said Fafa told police that when he arrived at work on Nov. 8, a total of $3,743 had been stolen from a cash register and tool box. On Nov. 16, the complaint said Fafa confessed to stealing the money and authorities said $2,250 was recovered from Fafa’s home.

Fafa, 44, was arrested on Dec. 15 and charged with embezzlement and two counts of filing a false police report. All the charges are misdemeanors.

On Dec. 19, Fafa allegedly entered the Sports Nation store around 9:15 p.m. and stole money from the register, according to an LCSO news release. He was arrested by the Fairfax County Police Department and faces additional charges of burglary and embezzlement.

Fafa is being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. He is due in Loudoun General District Court on Jan. 17.

He was willing to lose his job and his reputation as an honest man, and for less than $4K?
What he did was wrong and he deserves full on punishment, but he must have been desperate to rip his arm open with a dirty piece of jagged glass.

I experienced being flat busted broke for a while after leaving the Navy in early ‘80’s, but I would never had considered such ill gotten gains.
Not to mention: The Quran preaches against being a thief at
Quran verse 5:38. He would have lost one of his hands in ‘the old country’.

And he would have gotten away with it, too, if it wasn’t for those darn…pieces of glass?

That’s probably exactly how he justified his theft!
That day when Sharia met Taquiya.
