I got 4.0 in all my accounting classes.

Pretty hard to copy that from elsewhere

“The downfall of Harvard's president has elevated the threat of unearthing plagiarism, a cardinal sin in academia, as a possible new weapon in conservative attacks on higher education.”

How fortunate for the left that the plagiarism thing resurfaced at this time - all of a sudden Harvard's deep connections to genocide is off the front page.

What's the Ape Pee's argument here? That plagiarism is okay if you're black?

Why, yes, yes it is. From AP's perspective, you can't expect blacks to be able to reach the heights of intellectual discourse and transparency in scholarship as, say, Asians or whites. It is just not doable because, well, they are, umm, Blacks! In the interests of fairness and equity, we should give Blacks a pass on what white people so condescendingly call 'academic dishonesty'.

That’s a resume enhancer nowadays. He also was against school busing back in the 70s as I recall but blacks still vote for him.

The words of the authors of this commentary expose clearly their complete lack of ethics and honesty. To them, holding people accountable for lying and stealing the work of others represents "an existential threat to ... academic freedom" ("existential" being the Left's current word du jour for anything they don't approve of).

Then again, this is what Harvard University instills in their graduates, especially if the cheater is the "right" sex and color. Just another price must be paid pay to continue the racist and sexist practice of "infirmative action".

Since when is plagiarism a tool of the right? It used to be a tool of the academically principled.

In my small and private Catholic University, ANYONE caught plagiarizing work, or failing to cite sources, was out, never to be seen or heard from again on campus.

We were all warned in year one. We catch you cheating, failing to cite sources or plagiarizing there is no additional warning beyond the one you are receiving now.

Period.

I actually once met a brilliant and charming black woman.

A Unicorn is next on my bucket list.

“She plagiarized from another black woman, Carol Swaine. Why no mention of that?”

It’s Carol Swain.

To your point, only certain blacks matter to liberals. Carol Swain isn’t on the democrat plantation, so she doesn’t matter.

She sure did ruffle some feathers and not just on the East Coast. Harvard was successful attracting some sought after affirmative action hires and promotions. Gay was one that made some enemies along the way and attacked and blocked some other aspiring blacks. Others were already checking her work months before the questioning by Stefanik.

Harvard already knew they had a plagiarism problem months (and maybe longer) before Gay’s testimony in December. They also already knew they were losing millions of dollars by condoning antisemetic sentiment and behavior on campus.

And then there is another factor. Stefanik is an alumna of Harvard. She was on the advisory committee at the Kennedy School, a school that is well known as being very liberal. The dean of the Kennedy School very publicly booted Stefanik off the committee because she was a Republican and supported Trump. He should have known how important it is never to burn a bridge. They all should have known that.

In my thinking the correct way to consider the racial issue is via redefinition of what is a very diverse American societal component.

I think of people who have an Afro Heritage.

There is an Afro Heritage minority-minority. The Minority-minority are the good guys.

There is an Afro Heritage Minority-majority. The Minority-majority are Black. They are the bad guys who are racist and believe Black Lives Matter

The only way conservatives can guarantee continued control if they get it is to increase the Minority-majority.

Wait, wait. According to their logic Progressive authors, musicians, writers, and such should be happy to see their works plagiarized since laws and rules against plagiarism are now a Conservative weapon of choice. I wonder how that would work out?

“The plagiarism allegations came not from her academic peers..”

They sure as hell did come from academic peers. These authors did not do any research at all.

It is not a news report. It is obviously an opinion piece no matter how they present it.

They would also be protected by laws against plagiarism.

This article makes it sound like rational objections to theft of intellectual property are a bad thing.
