Former Trump White House insiders call possible 2nd term a threat to American democracy
ABC via Yahoo ^ | December 31st, 2023 | SOO RIN KIM and QUINN SCANLAN

Three women who served in former President Donald Trump's White House are now warning against a possible second Trump term, with one of them saying it could mean "the end of American democracy as we know it."

For the first time, former White House Communications Director Alyssa Farah Griffin, former White House deputy press secretary Sarah Matthews, and former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson sat down together with ABC News "This Week" co-anchor Jonathan Karl to discuss their roles in speaking out against Trump in the wake of Jan. 6.

"Fundamentally, a second Trump term could mean the end of American democracy as we know it, and I don't say that lightly," Griffin, now a co-host of ABC's "The View," told Karl, accusing the former president of having gone to "historic and unconstitutional lengths" in attempting to "steal a democratic election" and to stay in power.

"I'm very concerned about what the term would actually look like," Griffin continued.

Threat to democracy? Yes we have seen these threats in the last two weeks through the actions of the Colorado Supreme Court and the Maine Seccretary of State. As for these blowhards, they can blow it out their a**! Happy New Year!

“So, whenever any politician uses the expression “Our Democracy™”, understand that what he is worried about being destroyed is an absolute evil, whose destruction cannot come too soon.”

Amen.

We have too damn much democracy and have devolved to ochlocracy.

As ALL democracies have done since the beginning of time.

It’s time for our Caesar.

So they think Trump would create false International interference in elections to take to a FISA Court to spy on his opponents and everyone affiliated with those opponents, then use confidential sources to plant further false evidence thus allowing law enforcement to gather additional intelligence to bring to a court to charge Trump’s opponents with false crimes. All the while leaking these false allegations to his friends in the MSM, using this to go after lawyers trying to represent his opponents in court by going after those lawyers bar cards and also charging those lawyers with furtherance of crimes of their clients.

And that’s just Trumps 1st week in office!

So the question is how much were these ladies promised or how much were they threatened with to lie?

If Britain, Holland, Sweden, and Spain are democracies despite being monarchies, we are a democracy despite being a republic. There are no pure democracies in the world today, but plenty of democratic republics, like the US.

One big reason we became more democratic after 1800 is that Westerners didn’t want wealthy Easterners dominating the government, so they joined with urban workers to promote a wider franchise.

If that hadn’t happened, a lot of people complaining about democracy here, would still be complaining about control by a privileged oligarchy — well, we’re doing that anyway, but things wouldn’t be any better, and you might not even have a vote.

But agreed, I don’t trust anybody saying “They are taking away Our Democracy.”

If what we have is “democracy”, then it needs to be ended pronto. This is a blend of corruption, tyranny, secret police-state marxism, communism, and authoritarianism - coupled with borders invaded by illegal aliens at behest of democrat leaders, ripping inflation, massive taxation, and ceaseless pointless and expensive undeclared wars by proxy. There is no denying that factual statement.

The only good thing is they are continuing this insane threat to democracy argument which I don’t think can work.

Yahoo and ABC News. Real democracy dies when the media is for one party rule.

when will ABC do an article titled

“Vast Majority of former Trump insiders still back the president and disavow the disgruntled idiots that are badmouthing him for profit”?

“Among many he hastily imported into his administration.”

Not really hastily. Look at Alyssa Griffen’s track record. Before 2014 she was a writer for her father Joseph Farah’s right wing website World Net Daily.

Alyssa Griffin served as press secretary for Congressman Mark Meadows (2014). She then became Communications Director for the House Freedom Caucus serving under Jim Jordan and Mark Meadows. From there in 2017 she was appointed Press Secretary to Vice President Mike Pence. In 2019 she moved to the job of Press Secretary for the Department of Defense. She joined the White House staff as White House Director of Strategic Communications in April 2020. It was reported by the Washington Post she played a key role in shaping the adminisration’s coronavirus response. In 2021 she joined CNN. In 2022 she was named a permanent co host for the television show The View.

Alyssa Griffen was not “hastily imported” into Trump’s administration. Her career was mentored by key players in the “conservative” political spectrum. She is part of the conservative Republican world.

How do you vet someone like Alyssa Griffin? Mark Meadows certainly recommended her for the job with Mike Pence. Likely he played a role in moving her to the Pentagon and then brought her into the White House when he was White House Chief of Staff. Remember Meadows was appointed by Trump to be White House Chief of Staff, a job that did not require Senate confirmation so McConnell had no veto over the appointment.

This shows the problem any conservative leader has in finding true conservative talent. Many people in the political world have no loyalty to an ideology or they are wolves in sheep’s clothing. They are in the political world to advance their careers and do what is necessary in the moment to acquire wealth and power. If pretending to be MAGA gets them a step up on the ladder, they will do it. If being a turncoat brings them another prime assignment, they will do it.

Trump will have the same problem with “talent” in a second administration he faced in his first.

I'm guessing she won't be invited back to Trump 2.

Some interesting Wiki tidbits about her below. She has some good upbringing and good credentials, but she sure has gone astray and is a fair weather friend...

Her father, Joseph Farah, is a journalist of Syrian and Lebanese descent who was executive news editor at the Los Angeles Herald Examiner before moving to Northern California to become editor of The Sacramento Union in 1990. He later founded the far-right website WorldNetDaily. Her mother Judy (née Smagula) is a Sacramento-based journalist who has written for HuffPost, the Associated Press, and Comstock's. Griffin describes herself as having been "raised in the right-wing media".

Before 2014, Griffin wrote articles for her father's far-right website WorldNetDaily, where she served as a "special Washington correspondent for WND."

In 2010, Griffin was a media intern for Congressman Tom McClintock and began a one-year position as an associate producer on The Laura Ingraham Show

In the 2012 Presidential election cycle, Griffin was the spokesperson for the College Republican National Committee, traveling the country discussing the youth vote. In 2014, she was named Press Secretary for Congressman Mark Meadows; she was later named as his Communications Director. She went on to work as the Communications Director for the Freedom Caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives, serving under Jim Jordan and Mark Meadows.

The day before January 6, 2021, United States Capitol attack, Griffin publicly condemned Trump supporters for harassing Senator Mitt Romney. She denounced the attack, and days later, on January 8, blamed Trump for inciting the insurrection and suggested that he should resign.

Griffin voluntarily spoke to the January 6 House select committee several times in 2021.

In 2021, Griffin joined CNN as a political contributor. Griffin was appointed a fellow of the Georgetown Institute of Politics and Public Service for Spring 2022. In August 2022, Griffin was named a permanent co-host of The View for the show's 26th season after making several guest appearances throughout 2021 and 2022.

In 2020, Griffin became engaged to Justin Griffin. In 2022, Griffin revealed on The View that...

...members of her family, including her father and step-mother, boycotted her wedding because of her differences with Trump.

Liars and deceivers. Did Trump’s first term ‘end democracy? On the contrary, America was far better off. If we could deport every leftard, Wokesters and illegals then America would be so much improved.
