Given the recent discussions about a potential Vice President pick by Donald Trump, several people have asked for my perspective.
Because I look at the office of the presidency slightly different than most, and specifically because the real challenge that needs to be addressed is located deep inside each institution of government, my perspective on the running mate is somewhat different than most.
The Vice President is the safety mechanism for continuity of government in the event that something happens to the President.
Additionally, for the unique nature of the 2024 election, the VP pick technically becomes the 2028 MAGA candidate by default and general intention. Therefore, the selection of Trump’s running mate holds a greater weight of importance given the single term objective.
The primary factor of President Trump’s pick for VP should be, who will be the 2028 nominee.
Prior to President Trump’s first term in office, traditionally the role of the Vice-President, the actual tasks they are assigned to carry out, were generally ceremonial in nature. However, President Trump approached the VP role differently, and gave substantive policy initiatives to Vice President Mike Pence. [Pence proved he was not a good executive]
It should also be remembered that another unique aspect to President Trump’s term was his control over every of aspect of economic policy and trade. This level of economic focus, with controls completely retained by President Trump, was then used as a mechanism to influence President Trump’s foreign policy.
As stated by several Trump economic officials when describing the Trump doctrine, “economic security is national security.” The America-First outlook was a domestic economic focus, used as a lever to influence foreign policy activity.
As a consequence, the President Trump economic team was extremely stable throughout his term. USTR Robert Lighthizer, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, CEA Chairman Larry Kudlow and Trade/Manufacturing Advisor Peter Navarro all worked in close coordination on their specific assignments that were instructions from President Trump.

The left are all over social media shouting that Trump was found guilty and convicted of sexual assault of Jean Carroll. While Trump was found liable in a court of law for defaming her and sexual assault, that was a civil trial and obviously that does not establish that a crime had been committed.
That fact does not matter to the left, and they, just like the poster here, spout off that Trump was found guilty of sexual assault.
>>I would vote for Don Jr. in 2028. He’s seen first hand the dangers to personal liberty that Liberals/Progressives pose.

I think you are 100% correct.
As much as he and Kimberly turn me off with their (screeching, cringe-like) demeanors, I am aware enough to realize one must vote for the country’s best chance at what we hope will be the 2028 continued restoration ticket.

Thank you for posting what should not have to be continually exposed, but what appears to be necessary.
Rinse, repeat until it sinks in ; )
“I’m calling it now. He’s going to pick Kristi Noem.”
Good call and on target.
“My number one VP choice is Rand Paul.’
Terrific on domestic spending and monatary policy. Horrible on foreign policy.
Don’t dismiss BYRON DONALDS.
No
“Do not pick a woman unless it’s Kari lake”
Kari, a former news talking head, is attractive, outspoken and a fighter with zero experience and a little bit of a loose canon.

Stephen Miller - just might be the best suggestion on this thread!
>>>Indeed, Stephen Miller would be a perfect running mate as well as the natural heir to carry the MAGA torch in 2028.
English much? Perhaps you should acquire a working knowledge of the English language before attempting to identify as a lawyer.
We’re electing politicians, not candidates for sainthood. We should pick the best leader for our government, from the standpoint of the role of government in our society, economics and foreign/defense policy. That person has to deal with all kinds of nasty and shady characters here and abroad, so picking a would-be saint is a fool’s errand - look at Jimmy Carter, chosen for his “good moral character “ - he turned out to be, AT BEST, a naive boob who let this country get played time and time again.
Besides, NONE of the other candidates on either side is even close to being morally perfect. So you objection has be noted…and found wanting.
One thing I will say about CTH’s cabinet choices is that even a couple of them would drive the Left nuts (well, outright batshit, bark at the Moon nuts, as opposed to the usual idiotic nuttiness - and all of them would create a boom in the construction of new mental hospitals (yet another Trump contribution to the well-being of our economy).
I don’t know if Carson will aid or hinder the ticket, but he is definitely a good and very sharp man who would make a good POTUS.
I was referring to Governor Noem.
Is there any credible evidence that she has committed adultery?
President Trump has been accused of so many crimes (a la Coward-Pliven) that it is impossible to keep track of them!
LIEberals have cried “Wolf” so often, their unfounded attacks have lost all meaning!
I have not seen any credible information that Noem has committed adultery and nothing more about it since that scumbag leftist Pedro Gonzalez wrote the hit piece. His evidence was based on how often the 2 (Noem and Lewandowski) were seen together in public. Ridiculous.
While I like Rand a lot, one of the criteria is going to have to be that there is 0 chance of the candidate having deep state leverage on them and the fact that Rand did not pull out and note specifically that Anthony Fauci was lying when he was grilling him under oath tells me he might have some taint on him…
Steven Miller for Attorney General.
This is the most important post for Trump to fill.
His last choice is what got him. hung by appointing a special counsel.
That just can’t happen again.
His choice has to be as reliable and trustworthy as RFK was to JFK.
He can’t be weak like Sessions was.
As for VP, I have always liked Kari Lake.
Or maybe Trump should just pick one of the so-called Jan 6, insurrectionists.
Pick one out of the hat just like William F. Buckley would have done from the yellow pages.
I believe Noem folded with the men identifying as women playing in women’s sports fiasco.
I’d like to see Tucker or Jordan personally.
I believe Mike Pompeo stabbed Trump in the back a couple of months ago.
