Chinese President Xi Jinping warned President Biden last month that he intends to end Taiwan’s decades-long de facto independence — peacefully, if possible.
Xi told the 81-year-old commander-in-chief that “Beijing will reunify Taiwan with mainland China but that the timing has not yet been decided,” NBC News reported Wednesday, citing three current and former US officials briefed on the meeting.
The White House didn’t deny the exchange, which occurred during a Nov. 15 summit outside San Francisco that was attended by a dozen US and Chinese officials.
“I’m not gonna get into the specifics of the discussion between the two leaders,” National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told reporters on Air Force One en route to Milwaukee. “I think you can understand I’m not gonna read out that private conversation.”
“President Xi has been public and clear about his desires for reunification — that’s not something that’s different or new,” Kirby added.

We knew amphibious landings in WWII Japan was not a cool idea, so they were nuked instead.

2024 is definitely their window of opportunity, as it looks increasingly like Trump is going to clobber Biden.
Thus, if I were Taiwan, I’d be readying some of the most brutal and effective means of killing as many invaders as possible - such as being able to dump millions of barrels of oil into the water at the invasion beaches and lighting them on fire, multiple interlocking layers of fully automated, radar-controlled machine guns, minefields galore, and having an armed and trained populace with certain knowledge that any order from any government or military official to surrender is a false order (similar to Finland and Sweden). ALso, if they have the ability to take out the Three Gorges Dam with a large barrage of conventionally-armed rockets, that’d help a LOT. Make the Reds really consider postponing the invasion indefinitely - and definitely don’t depend on the Depends-wearing, lecherous old crook in Washington.

I always wondered, if you could go back in time and only kill one, who would you pick? Hitler or Marx?
