“I was just at multiple events with [Florida Gov.] Ron DeSantis, where he’s shaking their hands and looking them in the eye, while Donald Trump hangs out in his basement in Florida, afraid to actually debate,” Roy said in an interview on CNN’s “The Source,
“If we’d gotten the policies in place, if he had worked with conservatives to get bills passed in 2018, ’19,” Roy said of Trump. “We wouldn’t be in the mess we’re in right now, where Joe Biden is leaving Texas fully exposed to have people running over our Border Patrol agents and our [Department of Public Safety].”
Roy was also pressed a couple of times about Trump’s recent controversial remarks that immigrants were “poisoning the blood” of America, and he said Republicans ought to be approaching the issue with more compassion.

I took ‘afraid to debate’ as the meaningful line. Certainly, he is not willing to debate. Whether fear has anything to do with that is debatable. Where Trump goes to avoid the confrontations in my mind is equivalent to the Brandon working from his basement ridicule that was prevalent in 2020.
I took Chip Roy using that line to ridicule as a mirror to Trump’s preferred mode of attack. Not a lie.
At least no one from any of Trump’s opposition called Melania a c**t.
Selective outrage, I see...
Make an issue out of one point, and ignore everything else that is wrong seems to be something the happens with desantis supporters.
So it’s okay to support roy for attacking Trump for not debating, and ignore roy attacking Trump on not securing the border.
When roy then goes on to say everyone should be ‘compassionate’ in supporting the illegal aliens that get into the country ‘because they are human beings who are suffering’.
Kind of two faced there....
Chip must have gotten a hold of some cheap stuff.
Bkmk
You sound desperate.
Chip is just a little clown. He thinks this is all a tv game to be played with no real consequences. He’s exposing himself as a camera hog, not to be taken seriously.
You’re right. And it occurs to me that, while the damage to his nomination chances would have been minimal, it may have blunted the surge we’ve seen towards him in the general election from crossover voters. The media would have found some soundbite, something to obsess over, to bash Trump and distract the low information voters. As it’s turned out, the simple but powerful message of Biden’s disastrous presidency and Trump’s victimization at the hands of the DOJ has had a chance to break through and sway many democrats and independents.
Good point!
“hangs out in basement”? Trump is all over the country in rallies!
Wow - the pot calling the kettle black.
I cited examples of what Trump did right.
There is so much wrong with all of it. I support DeSantis for the same reasons I supported Cruz. I’m glad Trump won in 2016. I voted for him in 2016 and the fraud of 2020. Trump using the same playbook regarding Republican opposition this time around is so 8 years ago.
Need a different Trump this time. My fear is he hasn’t learned anything from his first four years.
Roy pointed out that Trump had a Congress to work with and nothing was done - I also see that impeachment can do that to a president.
The challenge among us that don’t want the Comintern to run this country is that there is a group that will ignore what Trump has done wrong when president and FAIL to let it be addressed.
I listened to Kash Patel recently, there is a man that knows what is what and who is who - Trump (or whomever) needs him around. His words are the type of words that should come out of a debate when assessing “Why I’m better for this country”.
How would our conversations be different if the true polling were released? What if we see Trump really doesn’t command these leads that are reported? Would that impact minds if Trump loses Iowa (a caucus more difficult to manipulate with fraudulent votes)?
These debates are a joke - 1) who is participating in them 2) format 3) Trump not present
Please - watch the video. How dishonest to attribute this to supposed MAGA supporters. I see your response as more of the same PSYOP within Republican voices to disrupt honest discussion about issues.
Funny Trump tweets (or whatever he uses) need to get someone to primary Chip Roy. Whoever runs his messaging needs to learn that the deadline passed days ago! Get a grip Trump ( or whomever does your messaging)! No clue as to the reality of what is taking place.
I don’t find Trump distasteful - I find the blind arrogance and mindlessness of Ever Trumpers disheartening. That is what will turn people away - I think their plan (Comintern) is working whether you are part of them or not.
a basement in south Florida?
Chip Roy can kiss my grits.
Check
Don’t care.. I’m voting for him anyway. Who is opposing you in the primaries so I know who to send money to?
Well Chip, Biden “won” the presidency from his basement.
5.56mm
The last thing Trump does is hang out in his basement. He campaigns hard, every day. Trump was right about Chip Roy.
The “afraid to debate” is an opinion at best, and a talking point at worst.
A Leftist talking point.
F CP!
