Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk say human population not nearly big enough: ‘If we had a trillion humans, we would have at any given time a thousand Mozarts’

We need more humans. That’s the message from two of the world’s richest billionaires, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

While the two compete in the space business—Bezos owns Blue Origin while Musk has SpaceX—they agree on certain aspect’s of humanity’s future.

“I think in a lot of these endeavors we're very like-minded,” Bezos said on an episode of the Lex Fridman Podcast released this week. He added, “I don't really know Elon very well,” but he said that he liked the idea of forming a friendship with him.

Asked what he hoped for humanity’s future in outer space hundreds or thousands of years from now, he replied:

“I would love to see, you know, a trillion humans living in the solar system. If we had a trillion humans, we would have at any given time a thousand Mozarts and a thousand Einsteins…Our solar system would be full of life and intelligence and energy.”

What companies like Blue Origin and SpaceX are doing, he said, is creating the space infrastructure upon which future generations can build greater things.

“When I started Amazon, I didn't have to develop a payment system. It already existed. It was called the credit card,” he said. “I didn't have to develop a transportation system to deliver the packages. It already existed. It was called the postal service and Royal Mail and Deutsche Post. And so all this heavy lifting infrastructure was already in place. And I could stand on its shoulders.”

He said that he wanted to use his “Amazon winnings” to build heavy infrastructure that will be used by the space entrepreneurs of future generations.

As for Elon Musk, he’s long stressed the need for humanity to become a multi-planet species, and he envisions SpaceX’s Starship rockets transporting people between Earth and Mars, where a permanent human presence will be established.

“We don’t want to be one of those single planet species, we want to be a multi-planet species,” he said in 2021 after SpaceX sent astronauts into orbit on a reused rocket.

He’s also warned about an “underpopulation crisis” here on Earth. In the summer of 2022, he said the declining birth rates seen in many nations presented “the biggest danger civilization faces by far.”

A few years earlier he had warned, “The biggest problem the world will face in 20 years is population collapse.”

This weekend, he sounded similar warnings while attending a political festival in Italy staged by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

“It’s important to have children and create the new generation,” he told attendees. “As simple as it sounds, if people do not have children there is no new generation.”

But how many "Hitlers," "Stalins," or "Pol Pots" would we also have?

Same goes (on a different level) for "Bidens."

Regards,

Well this flies in the face of the WEF who has been openly calling for mass depopulation the last couple of decades...

Having more kids is not a bad idea for Americans, but it’s not going to get America or the world more Mozarts.

It’s likely Bezos means he wants open borders. He thinks they’re in other countries and need to come here.

Complicated question? How many people did Athens have in the 5th Century BC, and how many great thinkers did she produce?

If Musk was right then we would already have quite a few Mozarts today, and we don’t.

As far as declining birth rates are concerned , the question becomes, how do you encourage people to get married and have more children?

I have no answers to that one.

But ultimately you would have to change the behavior of literally tens of millions of people, so that they would put marriage and family as a priority in living their lives.

“We don’t want to be one of those single planet species, we want to be a multi-planet species,”

Humans were 'designed' to live on this planet, and this planet only. We cannot survive anywhere else. Unless, that is, we could evolve to be like 'aliens', but, nobody knows what aliens are like. So, we're stuck living here. Let's get used to it. ;)

“”If we had a trillion humans, we would have at any given time a thousand Mozarts and a thousand Einsteins””

.

Or a thousand Donald Trumps.

That would have the progs of the world marching in the streets, burning flags, burning buildings, cars, pretty much everything and occasionally, each other.

In the meantime the normals will be sitting in prime locations watching for a prog headcase to pop it’s cork and start attacking “the evil white men.”

They will be ESPECIALLY pizzed at the hardware the normals are carrying because they found out the hard way that declaring government rules demanding confiscation is a LOT easier said than done.

And those 1000 annoying Donald Trumps?

Still around, still winning.

.

Pretty complex problem that most developed countries have.
The largest problem I see is our governments have become so overbearing that nobody wants to have kids due to the cost and the indoctrination they receive from the government. Who wants a child that hates you? or Children that feel that supporting their elders is an abhorrence?
Children that believe that you ruined the environment, the economy, and their futures?
When in fact it is their votes or support for bad governments that caused the problem?

MORE humans is useless, if Western culture is collapsing into decadent narcissism.

But we only need one Mozart, one Beethoven. We also need zero hitlers, obamas, bidens, maos and so forth. Things are already not fine the way they are. Why make them worse with more sheeple? No matter how many impossible locations they could go. We also only “need” one bezos, one musk and so forth. I doubt we really actually need them or me or anyone else for that matter.
