Texas to arrest illegal migrants in challenge to federal government
BBC ^ | December 18, 2023 | Bernd Debusmann Jr

Texas has enacted a law that will make border crossings illegal and punishable with jail time, one of the toughest immigration laws passed by any US state in modern times.

Governor Greg Abbott, a Republican, said it would "stop the tidal wave of illegal entry into Texas".

Immigration advocates have said the law will lead to racial profiling.

It comes amid rising illegal migration and public concern over US President Joe Biden's handling of the border.

The new Texas measure is so controversial, in part, because US courts have previously ruled that only the federal government can enforce immigration laws.

Crossing the border illegally is already a federal crime, but violations are currently handled as civil cases by the immigration court system.

SB4, which is due to come into effect in March, passed both houses of Texas' Republican-led legislature in November.

In practice, the law allows local and state police officers to stop and arrest anyone suspected of having crossed the border illegally, except in schools and hospitals.

Punishments range from misdemeanours to felonies that can lead to jail time or fines of up to $2,000 (£1,580).

“The new Texas measure is so controversial”

Doing the right thing is always controversial.

When is crazy, radical, leftist behavior ever labeled “controversial” in the news?

This move does NOTHING if Texas doesn’t also defy federal judges and even US law enforcement efforts to prevent it. And they ARE coming.

This would be the spark for the next civil war. Long overdue.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio (of Arizona) built tent camps in the desert as jails; that seemed pretty harsh as it was. I believe he gave the prisoners baloney sandwiches (or were they peanut butter) for lunch. He also had chain gang work details.

If Abbott wants to make up for his past inaction, maybe he could put the camps near the border, and have chain gangs build walls or obstacles along the border.

Of course if he is, it would be smarter to not announce it up front. Just act like the feds; put them up quietly, while denying any accusations that you’re doing it. Why give them a chance to block it before you get it established?

The state can’t deport anyone.

However, I’d start sending busload to the governors mansion in Arizona and to Maricopa Cty government buildings and courthouse.

I was thinking more along the lines of sending them to the neighborhood of the federal judge who ruled that Texas had to remove the floating barriers from the Rio Grande.

Or, the neighborhood of the judge who ruled that the feds could cut the concertina wire Texas put up.

Constitutional Convention Call Law

Unless the federal government allows Texas to enforce SB4, Texas shall authorize Ken Paxton (and no other person) to represent it at an Article V convention to be held at a time to be specified by Texas law for the sole purposes of:
1. Voiding the first sentence of Amendment XIV, Section 1,
2. Allowing each state to arrest and deport non-citizens as its legislature desires,
3. Allowing each state legislature from time to time to completely determine which judges shall have authority within the state,
4. Barring the judicial system from exercising any legislative power including that of appropriation of funds even if done under established precedent or agreement.

US ratification of the Refugee Convention and certain provisions of federal asylum/refugee law should be voided as being constitutionally incompatible with Article IV, Section 4 (”protect each of them against invasion”) of the US Constitution.

Texas could limit the size of new houses to say 1200 square feet maximum and require them to be of simple design and be at least the length of the closest side apart from each other and any road.

Significantly dry up the construction jobs the invaders come for.

Texas could also pass a rent control law barring ‘excessive’ rents on new dwellings permitted in 2024.

Excessive might be defined by the legislature as at least 10% in excess of the rents of comparable by square footage units in 2011 reasonably adjusted for inflation and other factors.

That would “take a bite out of” apartment construction and invader employment in Texas.

Are the federal courts going to declare rent control unconstitutional?

Imagine what would happen to New York City residents.

All of the above.

Like a Targeting Officer for the CIA, only different.

Make a decision like removing the barriers or cutting the wires, a bus shows up.

The illegals should be sent to the neighborhoods of all the US senators and reps. Especially the democrats. Make them live with what we all have to live with. That might get their attention.
