“The new Texas measure is so controversial”
Doing the right thing is always controversial.
When is crazy, radical, leftist behavior ever labeled “controversial” in the news?
This move does NOTHING if Texas doesn’t also defy federal judges and even US law enforcement efforts to prevent it. And they ARE coming.
This would be the spark for the next civil war. Long overdue.
Sheriff Joe Arpaio (of Arizona) built tent camps in the desert as jails; that seemed pretty harsh as it was. I believe he gave the prisoners baloney sandwiches (or were they peanut butter) for lunch. He also had chain gang work details.
If Abbott wants to make up for his past inaction, maybe he could put the camps near the border, and have chain gangs build walls or obstacles along the border.
Of course if he is, it would be smarter to not announce it up front. Just act like the feds; put them up quietly, while denying any accusations that you’re doing it. Why give them a chance to block it before you get it established?
To take affect three long months from now. Why do I feel the Texas GOPe is saying “Just the tip!” to us?
Constitutional Convention Call Law
Unless the federal government allows Texas to enforce SB4, Texas shall authorize Ken Paxton (and no other person) to represent it at an Article V convention to be held at a time to be specified by Texas law for the sole purposes of:
1. Voiding the first sentence of Amendment XIV, Section 1,
2. Allowing each state to arrest and deport non-citizens as its legislature desires,
3. Allowing each state legislature from time to time to completely determine which judges shall have authority within the state,
4. Barring the judicial system from exercising any legislative power including that of appropriation of funds even if done under established precedent or agreement.
US ratification of the Refugee Convention and certain provisions of federal asylum/refugee law should be voided as being constitutionally incompatible with Article IV, Section 4 (”protect each of them against invasion”) of the US Constitution.
Texas could limit the size of new houses to say 1200 square feet maximum and require them to be of simple design and be at least the length of the closest side apart from each other and any road.
Significantly dry up the construction jobs the invaders come for.
Texas could also pass a rent control law barring ‘excessive’ rents on new dwellings permitted in 2024.
Excessive might be defined by the legislature as at least 10% in excess of the rents of comparable by square footage units in 2011 reasonably adjusted for inflation and other factors.
That would “take a bite out of” apartment construction and invader employment in Texas.
Are the federal courts going to declare rent control unconstitutional?
Imagine what would happen to New York City residents.
Wanna make a Statement, arrest the Feds Facilitating it.
Effective in March!!! Just BS for publicity for Abbott. Idiot. He knows it will be thrown out by the federal courts before the. Useless POS.
All of the above.
Like a Targeting Officer for the CIA, only different.
Make a decision like removing the barriers or cutting the wires, a bus shows up.
Exactly.
It was bologna sandwich on white bread. Kinda grew up on that and I am 67 and still kickin the dirt
The illegals should be sent to the neighborhoods of all the US senators and reps. Especially the democrats. Make them live with what we all have to live with. That might get their attention.
