So, what do you think about Derek Chauvin?

I don’t find it hard to answer.

They need to file suit on both agencies.

I’m somewhat familiar with South Bend. It’s sort of a $#ithole. It’s not as bad as Gary, IN, obviously. There’s the University of Notre Dame, which is nice. But the city is pretty much sketchy.

She was very fortunate that the Police did not shoot her.

********************

When the police wrongly murder a civilian, the chief always comes to their defense by saying “it was a tragic mistake or accident.”

If a civilian kills a cop the chief never says it was a tragic mistake or accident..... Nope.....whoever did it is “Swiss cheese” when they find him.

I think Chauvin (and the others!) acted improperly and with poor judgment. They could have done things differently and created a different outcome - and different cops would have done so. The cops in the Floyd incident deserved to pay for their failure.

I don’t think that Chauvin deserved the sentence that he received, but he had a lot of prior complaints against him, and everything together made him ripe for becoming a political pawn.

Yeah, all it takes is one bad experience with cops to permanently sour one’s attitude towards them. Reflects very badly on mediocre hiring and training standards.

I know a Fireman who was chief of a small voulonteer department in Texas
He was given an abandoned house to use for fire training. He had his men set it on fire several times in different places and then go in side and put it out. He did this throughout the day un til it was only safe to let it just burn down.
He never noticed all the food in the fridge, or the pictures on the wall, or the freshly made beds. Finally in the afternoon the family got home and told him he was at the wrong house.

Easy, the same one that exists for doctors, attorneys, plumbers, etc.. a requirement that they be bonded and insured individually. The one’s who repeatedly step on their dicks will be unable to afford the insurance eventually. And yes, end qualified immunity, a legal decision that was made up out of thin air.

I don’t personally have a contrary opinion, IF it could be done.

But I fear it would drastically cut the numbers of people willing to become cops when so many are leaving already. Criminals are getting away with so much now, it must be very demoralizing to decent people who would like to go into LE. We won’t have many more if we lay even more demoralization and risk on them...
