Black Alabama man, 24, tasered by female cop who told him 'your b**** a** ain't so tough now' breaks silence on 'traumatizing' arrest ordeal where he was also wrongly held on fentanyl charge

A black Alabama man who had been tasered by a white cop and arrested for trafficking fentanyl is now sharing his harrowing story.

Officer Dana Elmore was seen on camera swearing and tasing Micah Washington, 24, with a stun gun while he was in handcuffs.

He was charged with trafficking fentanyl, but the charge and its accompanying $500,000 bond were dropped after 'further testing' showed the substance in his possession was not the opioid drug.

In an interview with ABC, Washington revealed what had happened during the incident and explained that he had never had a run-in or issue with police before.

'I try to act okay, but I am really traumatized. I don't know how to feel about police now.'

He told the channel that he and his brother were changing a flat tire on the side of the road near his aunt's home when Elmore approached and asked to see his ID.

By then, Washington began to ask what was wrong and why he had to show his ID while complying with her order.

'I was respectful saying yes ma'am, no ma'am,' he said.

'She asked me to go stand in the back of the car but I was like I'm not being detained and I don't have to do anything.

'She grabbed me and I was standing between the back door and driver door, trying to turn my camera on and record her but she tased me for the first time and put her foot in my back after I fell.'

As soon as Washington fell, his brother, Shikeem Washington, began to record the video and on his request, his friend went to get the victim's aunt.

Reasonable (nebulous), articuable (specific) suspicion. Just because a cop can’t figure out what you are doing or not doing isn’t legally suspicious. But if you or what you are doing, like running from the area of a B&E report wearing clothing similar to witness reports matches you would most likely be stopped, frisked IDed and detained for investigation. But cops can lie to you. There may not have been a reported B&E. You may be jogging, or late for an appointment. If that’s so he’s fishing, keep your mouth shut.

Municipalities routinely deny complaints from citizens. You have to finance a serious investigation yourself or with help from civil rights orgs.

Which is why I said what I did in the first post.

The police should always act in a professional manner because they could be wrong. And if they are wrong it looks much better to the public if they acted in a calm and professional manner. There have been several cases where the police were given incorrect information and they acted on it but because they acted in a polite and professional manner giving due respect to the law no one was hurt and every one involved gave the police pats for acting correctly.

And if they are right, once again it makes them look much better to the public.

It gives them confidence that any interaction they have with the police will have a happy outcome. People will talk to the police when they have a problem rather then handling it on their own because "there is no situation that the police can not make worse".

Our current Sheriff, when body cams became a thing, went to the township council and asked for funding to get them for his officers. He said that he had total confidence that his officers always would act properly and he wanted to be able to prove that in court if necessary.

His confidence was not misplaced.

Some people think because I am against police being abusive I am against the police. Nothing could be further from the truth. I want the police to act in a lawful manner. And the police acting in a lawful manner trickles down into the community.

The police not acting in a lawful manner also trickles down.

The answer is better trained officers. Just because Billy Bob’s uncle is a cop shouldn’t qualify him for patrol duty. Most cops have to get a POST certificate nowadays, better than nothing, but riding with a partner for a year of OJT too is preferable. Even then, two man patrols are best for too many reasons to cite now. It’s a thankless and exacting job that few people are good at when many are needed. But the US vs. them, thin blue line, officer safety, shoot first, no de-escalation techniques taught or employed mentality gets in the way.

You are correct. And too much of this occurs. But you cannot make a blanket statement that accuses all cops of being corrupt either.

“He was also charged with possession of a firearm as an ex felon and possession< of marijuana.
Did those charges stick or were they dropped too?”

Remains to be seen. The issue will boil down to whether it was a reasonable search and seizure. Was there probable cause for the search of someone changing a tire roadside? If not, then he walks.

Yeah, sure, be a scofflaw like this asshole, and then fight the cops when you inevitably attract their attention. That sounds like you. If it weren’t for assholes like you, we wouldn’t need cops.

It's funny, in my encounters with the cops, I've treated them like I treat everyone else, politely and with respect.

And they've done the same with me

God, some of the people here act like a cop nailed their prom date after they paid for dinner

And that makes them weigh in with career criminals and people who think things like paying for car insurance, showing up in court, and obeying the law the law generally, are optional.

Exactly! Since when did it become “sexist” by stating facts and an obvious eye test?

He was not a scofflaw and did not fight the cops.

He also did not attract their attention unless you can call changing a tire "attracting their attention".

Just as a matter of interest, what is wrong with changing a tire?

If it weren't for assholes like you, we wouldn't need cops.

Actually we would not need cops if everyone behaved in a calm and polite manner to each other. Something that your hero, super cop who likes to torture people, failed to do.

In case you did not know, the only charge left is position of mary-ja-wana. The man in question did not have any fentanyl on him, was not trafficking in fentanyl, was not a felon, was lawfully carrying and was breaking no law at the time hero super cop decided to publicly torture him for the society threatening crime of changing a tire.

You really should chose who you worship with a bit more care.

But none of my business. So hey, you do you.

Does not remain to be seen.

The position of marijuana is the only one officially remaining.

The charges were not officially "dropped" but they did vanish like the summer snow because the man was not a felon. So that means they can not charge him with being a felon in position of a firearm because not a felon.

Apparently with her other problems Super Cop has a problem with telling the truth.

Now that’s possible. But I’d have to know specifics about how the evidence was obtained that would make it subject to exclusion. Either way, he’s not getting his drugs and gun back.

AND, you drive around with open containers.

You must be doing something wrong in your life.

What? Because I called you out on your complete and utter BS? Because you literally did not read the article whatsoever yet had the audacity to call me out on “Who the hell asks for an ID when changing a tire?” When that EXACTLY what the article said happened!? Are you kidding, forget the /s tag of off your meds?

Trust me, less interactions with your type is more brain matter I get to keep intact.

His knee jerk reaction is indicative of obedience even at the same of civil liberties. I’m getting the sense of still wearing a mask, calling out others who don’t and wearing one as a driver within a solo vehicle.
