Global carbon emissions from fossil fuels are at a record HIGH - with 36.8 billion tonnes emitted in 2023

Global emissions have risen by around one per cent each year since 2010 Scientists say that global warming of 1.5°C (2.7°F) is now almost inevitable By

The world's carbon emissions hit an all-time high in 2023, a new report has revealed.

Scientists from the Global Carbon Budget Project found that 36.8 billion tonnes of CO2 were released into the atmosphere this year - an increase of 1.1 per cent compared to last year.

To avoid the worst impacts of climate change, emissions will need to fall by a whopping 8.9 per cent each year, experts say.

Lead researcher, Professor Pierre Friedlingstein, says that efforts to cap emissions have been 'painfully slow'.

The scientists now believe that global warming of more than 1.5°C (2.7°F) is almost inevitable.

Even as the world's leaders gather to discuss climate change at COP28, the study found that emissions due to fossil fuels rose year on year.

However, the total increase was not distributed evenly across the world.

The largest total increases came from India and China, where carbon emissions rose by 8.2 and four per cent respectively.

1) CO2 on Earth was significantly higher than it is now before there were people. It was excellent John F-n Kerry get burned the other day on this.
2) No mention ever of the Laurentide ice sheet a mile thick that covered North America from where I type. (only 100 great-grandmothers ago)
3) CO2 is only 4/100 hundredths of a percent, most people don’t know this, amazing. This is what happens when elementary/jr. high schools do not teach basic astronomy and physical science any longer, too busy putting guys in the girl’s room.

Don’t know if he buys into the co2 thing or is posting an article showing that even if true all that is being “done” by west is obliterated by China.

China knows that carbon reduction is an economic killer, and they are showing that they are not going to play that game,

Let the west commit suicide, they will continue to build their 1200+ new coal power plants.

The idea that China is still considered a developing economy(just fancy cover for we know they won’t play along) is a joke

Maybe they can get decraprio to jump into his private jet and fly 6000 miles to show xi his “I love the earth trophy “

There is no proof that carbon emissions cause the planet to warm. The earth has been warming for 20,000 years, since the last ice age. There will be future ice ages.

The goal of all this activism is communism.

Not as bad as I though as it gives me 77 years to get some dirt under my house.

And half of it comes from Red China...which has about 14% of the world’s population.

I've done some traveling in my day. Places I've visited include the LA Basin...London...the Ruhr Valley (Germany's industrial heartland) and Red China. The clearest day I've ever experienced in Red China was ten times worse than the worst day I've experienced in LA...Germany...or London.

More climate scam stories. Acting as if carbon dioxide were some sort of poison is simply part of the fraud to inflict misery on those whom the government apparatchiks consider serfs. Obviously our government considers us solely as a source of income with no rights whatsoever. No first amendment rights - crush that “misinformation” ie anything that conflicts with the government’s lies. No second amendment rights - total civilian disarmament for our “safety”. No fourth amendment rights “civil asset forfeiture”. No fifth amendment rights - prosecutors claiming to juries that silence means guilt. Sixth amendment - speedy trial and the Jan 6th political prisoners. And then there are the imaginary rights. The right to proclaim yourself some fantasy gender. The right to be a welfare parasite. The right of government officials to be immune from lawsuits ie “qualified immunity”. I could go on but this post is already too long. Bottom line is the government lies to us about almost everything and the media uncritically picks it up and runs with it

In Jan. 2022, the Tonga Volcano pumped 58 billion tonnes of vapor and ash into the atmosphere and in Feb 1022 two more volcanoes pumped 20 billion tonnes into the atmosphere. When are the Climate Changers going to put filters on these Volcanoes put a stop to this damage to the atmosphere?

That is good. We need more CO2, not less. It actually has a small cooling effect, but it increases the food supply. It is a stable system by design.

atmosphere is 5140 trillion tonnes... trillion with a t.

36.8 billion tonnes of carbon emitted...

.0368 of a trillion emitted... .0000368 of 5 thousand trillion...

miniscule, respectively... and my math is on the low side of conservative.

---- "So your saying [ the BBC-Cathy Newman ploy is most amusing ] we can't burn them because it will release lots of co2, what a shame /s"

Sarcasm alongside skepticism seems a good way to plow through today's "news" -- with quotes around it because so much is Push polls, Messaging, Nudging™ [ the Sunstein-Holder gambit ], and Manufacturing Consent™ -- and such sarcasm is yours and mine so to do.

More clearly, all those old "fossils" shouldn't be burned. Rather incarcerated for their scams and hoaxes. A little like one the latest -- carbon sequestration, which sounds so 'sciency' -- except our preferred sequestration would more likely include orange jumpsuits and such.

One the other hand, Uncle Adolf opted for the B-B-Q.... The Ceaușescus played bullet catch.... And Benito hung around a lamppost...

It makes me a little sad to think the "fossils" as we think of them might go the "clear conscience" Pol Pot route, and live into old [ older ] age... Or the unfaithful Fidel route and enter room temperature while some legacy lingers....

Happy landings.

I don’t believe this for one minute. The industry over many years has taken great strides is reducing contaminate emissions.
