Conor McGregor has assessed his likely competition as he considers running for president in Ireland.
The UFC star has been outspoken in recent weeks about political issues following the stabbing of three children and a carer in Dublin. Riots subsequently broke out in the city when it was claimed the suspect was a foreigner as protestors sang anti-immigrant chants. McGregor's social media posts are being investigated by police for allegedly inciting hate.
McGregor has since accused the authorities of making him a scapegoat, tweeting: “Attempt to scapegoat me all you wish. If it makes you feel better, I will take it." He also released a statement in which he called on the government to act. “I am praying that the streets will remain calm and peaceful. We Irish are known for our beautiful hearts, and we have a proud history of not accepting racism," he said.
"I do strongly believe our leaders must address this issue head-on with serious policy reforms regarding Ireland’s immigration and refugee processes. This is not a time for debate and posturing, our elected leaders must act in the best interest of Ireland’s citizens and our beloved country’s future."
McGregor has often floated the idea of running for office but appears more serious in light of recent events. And taking to social media, he explained why he feels he would be better than the alternative candidates. "Potential competition if I run. Gerry [Adams], 78. Bertie [Ahern]. 75. Enda [Kenny] , 74. Each with unbreakable ties to their individual parties politics. Regardless of what the public outside of their parties feel. These parties govern themselves vs govern the people.

Break a leg Connor
Upon that rejection the clowns who run the EU demanded that another vote be held. And they made sure that the second one gave the desired result.
Preferably someone else’s.
Do not raise the ire of Ireland.....................
I know that Irish guys wake up just looking for a fight. And Conor probably is the best at it.I hope he doesn’t have to campaign from jail. Seems to be a trend these days.
They want to charge him with a ‘hate crime’..............
>I know that Irish guys wake up just looking for a fight. <
The Devil you say!...................
That POS is ultra communist/lib.
I don’t think the Irish president actually has any authority. Ireland is a unitary parliamentary democracy.i think all the authors lies with the parliament and the PM. President is more a ceremonial position. Could be wrong!
Conor McGregor is OK by me, but he’s just kicking up some dust. He will not run for President of Ireland. I remember how this most Catholic of countries legalized abortion in 2018. This was the start of decline.
What percent of Ireland population is immigrants? Hard to find this on the internet. It is crazy that they have allowed in so many Muslims and 3rd worlders. Into their once very pale-faced, lily-white nation.
“Break a leg Connor”
Across the face of the EU and their destroyer policies!
YOU were 10, and your OLDEST brother was 10?? How does that work?
Twins, or Irish twins?
You can say that for all of western Europe.
I’m 5-8, so to you I am sub human?
