We laughed about this decades ago, when we were younger and climbing Mt. Katadin in Baxter state park in Maine. We joked that in NY, a beautiful scenic area like this and the great hiking trail would not be allowed in NY because it would be labeled an attractive nuisance and would be closed for fear of lawsuits.
