Fact Check: Newsom Claims More Floridians Moving to California than Vice Versa
Breitbart ^ | 11/30/2023 | JOEL B. POLLAK

CLAIM: California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) said more Floridians have moved to California in the past two years than vice versa.

VERDICT: MOSTLY FALSE. The raw numbers favor Florida. Newsom is relying on a “per capita” migration rate. Newsom debated Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) on the Fox News Channel in a much-anticipated matchup. Host Sean Hannity asked the governors to explain why there is net migration from “blue” Democratic states to “red” Republican states. Newsom then claimed that over the past two years, there has been net migration from Florida to California. DeSantis seemed rather stunned.

When Newsome played the "per capita" statistical game, DeSantis should have responded that because of the net increase of Californians moving to Florida, the per capita change in Florida increased more than 170% times the per capita change in California due to the net decrease in Floridians moving to California.

Ask the moving companies & the rental truck companies.

Check with the state DMV as to what states are registering new drivers, etc.

He’s wrong again ... as usual. Even the SF Chronicle agrees: About 50,700 Californians became Florida residents from 2021 to 2022, according to data from the Census Bureau’s American Community Survey. That’s 22,100 more than the 28,600 Florida residents who moved to California.

GOOD! I’ve not seen Hannity in years, and I don’t miss him.

“”I’ve not seen Hannity in years,””

You haven’t missed anything. I may turn it on but only for a few seconds....

I’ll take a beating here, I’m sure but at 8 EDT, if I’m not otherwise occupied, I’ll turn to Cuomo on NewsNation. Truthfully, his program is more interesting than anything FOX cable has. He doesn’t speak from a script and gets down to the nitty-gritty and lets his guests TALK.

He has a lot of coverage from Palestine, OH and THAT is really interesting...town halls with the residents who have been damaged there - mainly from the polluted water. He’s not in and out for the cameras. He does appear genuinely interested in what they’ve gone through and promises to continue covering their plight and FIGHT. A lot of research by experts into soil and water sampling..

This week he announced that he will vote for Trump over Biden!!!

An added PLUS - he has O’Reilly on maybe once a week. I don’t always pick the right night but I enjoy their back and forth!!

I’m glad DeSantis did well because, while I’m still a Trump guy, we need a good backup Republican candidate.

Who thinks “old geezer” POTUSes is a good thing? Trump and Biden are 75+ yo iirc. That’s ridiculous imo.

Personally, I have been to both states & prefer California, mostly because of weather. But with Newsom at the helm,I don’t want to even visit there again. Florida is too hot & humid for my tastes.

“DS: I met your father-in-law when he moved to Fla. Game set match”

The father-in-law might have moved to Florida for reasons other than dissatisfaction with California.

Maybe dissatisfaction was the father-in-law’s reason for moving to Florida. If not, Newsom should have been ready give the truth for the move.

Generally speaking, I blame California’s problems on their voters. Most political leaders are more follower than leader. That’s not all bad as they are representatives of the voters.

Repeal the 17th Amendment and things start to improve immediately. Get the States back in control of the Senate where they belong.
