Big DeSantis donors land on powerful government boards

TALLAHASSEE — A company owned by Craig Mateer, an Orlando entrepreneur, GOP megadonor and gubernatorial appointee, was paid $75,000 in September to provide travel to Gov. Ron DeSantis’ presidential campaign, federal campaign reports show.

That pales in comparison with the $1.6 million in travel expenses covered by a company associated with Scott Wagner, a South Florida lawyer and longtime friend of DeSantis who was reappointed to the South Florida Water Management District.

DeSantis has a well-documented track record of appointing big political donors to government positions where they preside over multimillion-dollar budgets, make spending and policy decisions, award contracts, and approve permits for development and water use.

“DeSantis has a well-documented track record of appointing big political donors to government positions”

He is not the first to do that.

It shows he has a history of getting donations and rewarding the donors...

And because desantis has been the chosen one for the Florida legislature, he’s gotten away with a lot of bribary and corruption

This story was not intended to be told until after Ron won the Republican nomination.

And get things in return

After Ron DeSantis, an avid golfer, moved into the Florida governor’s mansion in 2019, workers installed a golf simulator worth tens of thousands of dollars in the private pool cabana so he could practice his game.

But DeSantis did not pay for the simulator. Neither did the state government. Instead, it was funded by a wealthy donor and prominent businessman, Morteza Hosseini, according to four sources familiar with the matter and state government records.

Hosseini and his firm have contributed more than $240,000 to DeSantis’ campaigns, finance records show. The developer has been a close adviser for DeSantis, who appointed him to the board of trustees of the University of Florida. Hosseini now serves as the board’s chairman. His company is one of Florida’s largest home builders.

Oh look, the Orlando Sin-Ten-All doing a hit piece on DeSantis.

What a shock.

Yet it’s exposing dirty laundry about desantis, that other media doesn’t seem to be interested in reporting.

Are you going to claim none of that happened?

That desantis doesn’t have to have morals or ethics, that it’s alright for him to be the corrupt politician he appears to be?

Another reason, as I’ve said for years, all political donations should be ANONYMOUS. You can’t sell influence if you don’t know who is buying.

I am saying that the Orlando Sentinel is a rag devoted to destroying any ascendant conservative. And I am correct.

Whatever the details are, I am certain there is plenty that goes unreported.

And I say that about Trump, too.

Once both sides of the DeSantis v Trump kerfuffle realize the media hates both men, the better off they’ll be. I have seen foul behavior on both sides and I don’t like it.

I know who DOES like it: the GOP Beltway and the Democrats and their allies in the fake news industry. They relish it.
