A shocking video exposed American Airlines employees for carelessly flinging custom wheelchairs off an aircraft and down a baggage chute while laughing.
In the video taken at Miami International Airport - an employee perched at the top of the wheelchair ramp lazily chucks the devices down the ramp and lets them bounce off the ground.
Another employee waited at the bottom of the ramp - but made no effort to save the wheelchair after his coworker's reckless behavior.
American Airlines released a statement after video of the incident saying they were investigated and the visuals were 'deeply concerning.'
More than 11,000 wheelchairs, scooters and other disability devices were broken by U.S. airlines in 2022, according to the Department of Transformation.
The now-viral video was uploaded to TikTok by a user watching the employees.
'Dang, after I saw them do this and laugh with the first two wheelchairs I had to get it on film. That is not what I'd call “handling with care” for someone's mobility device,' the uploader captioned her shocking video.
American Airlines officials defended the airline: 'We recognize how important it is to support the independence of customers with disabilities by ensuring the proper care of mobility devices throughout their journey with us.
'This visual is deeply concerning and we are gathering more details so that we can address them with our team.

I agree. It always seems that anyone who says something is ‘deeply concerning’ eventually lets on that they were deeply concerned about getting caught.
I guess public relations and management everywhere suffer from the same social ineptitude and tone deafness. It is on tape. The only response is to fire the guilty and “improve” training. This response is on par with Busch Light.
I hope the video gets on Rumble.
I don’t remember that film.was that character ok after their tumble or did they get hurt? I had t realized Rochard widmark was such a cad. I remember him from nice gut roles; exception was the film ‘Coma’

Respect for the property of others is called “acting white”.
MIA is a trip through the ghetto…
At least the people weren’t in the wheelchairs.

Oh really.
Surprise, surprise, surprise...diversity and affirmative action on display....
Instead of management being "deeply concerned", he was terminated in rapid fashion.
In my memory, he’s almost always the bad guy.
Worst airport in the country, I dread whenever I have to go there.
Ditto for the Atlanta airport.
Pass through Atlanta and enjoy the compassion and care of the POC at that airport. In Nashville SW Airlines is hiring mostly POC’s and their dedication to service is less than desirable and race based. Older employees I know at BNA state that their service is horrendous and racism towards whites overt. Unfortunately the people hiring are POC’s and are hiring POC’s. Hiring practices as such are contributing to the inefficiency at all airports and will consequently affect safety.
I can easily see a workers comp case in the future.
It's United that breaks guitars.
I never saw the movie...just that scene. It became the quintessential illustration or the ultimate CAD!
I actually have seen that video. It’s great. That’s what inspired me to mention guitars.
