*** Meanwhile, Bidumb is on vacation.....a-g-a-i-n.***

Q: Who runs the country when Biden goes on vacation?
A: The same people who run it when he’s at the White House. Obama, Jarrett, and other communists.

My cousins are in their early 60s now and it is a family tradition that everyone gets an orange in their stocking as a reminder of what my dad’s family went through during the depression.

In the Godfather movies an orange was a sign somebody was about to die.

Kids wanted MacDonald’s last night to get the McRib - and I agreed - we go maybe once a year.

There were VERY few workers inside, all ordering from a kiosk.

For a McRib combo, two hamburger patties (for the dogs), a “holiday pie” and another separate McRib sandwich the bill came to $27.

I ate at home later, the food doesn’t agree with me at all...

I went to a store to buy shoes the other night, it’s been awhile.

But usually there would always be someone to help measure your feet and find the right shoe for the size.

Nope, you’re pretty much on your own now.

When I was a kid, I always got oranges in my stocking at Christmas. I always thought it was because I like oranges. Then I grew up and realized it was a tradition from the depression when that’s all you got. Mom and dad really should not have just emptied the fruit bowl into the stocking since it made the Santa thing obvious but my older sister cried at 11 when finally told the truth. She cried but said at least the Easter bunny and tooth fairy were still real. I kid you not. I was 2.5 years younger and knew since 6. Parents get a bit lazy with second and third children. Long story.

I remember getting some shampoo that was in an ad on tv for Christmas. It was called, “Gee, your hair smells terrific!” and came in a pink bottle. My older brother made fun of me for that, so my joy didn’t last for long.

I think I pay $100 a year. I have the Sam’s credit card. I don’t shop at Sam’s too much, but when I did yesterday I had $50 from my credit card usage to put toward my Sam’s purchase so that definitely helps.

In todays retail YOU have to request assistance pretty much everywhere you shop. They simply won't staff as years gone by. So don't expect “service’ apart from requesting it.

Several years ago Sam’s had $50 and if you spent $50 you got it back - but I didn’t get one in time

Phone just said it’s $20 now - don’t think you get anything back though

Events, impressions, and/or trauma in childhood can cause lasting behavior in adults. Feet are definitely important. I know that because of the job I have. Bless your mom for wanting better for her kids.

Well, we never had to step on one of those X-ray machines that “measured” your feet. I never saw those in California- but my East coast family and friends certainly did and had their feet X-rayed many times.

I got deodorant once. It seemed strange and I was less than appreciative as a teen. Years later, I realized it was a thoughtful and useful gift given by an aunt who was a Catholic nun, and had sort of got herself shunned because of her inability to be tactful and had little to spend on gifts for family members. I am a bit sad for not realizing what a gift it was.

I used hot dogs or bologna (same meat, different shape). I’d drain the water, and add hot sauce and bbq sauce, but I was 19, and an E-3 in the Navy in 1989/1990, making around $900 a month.
