Nikki Haley is consolidating the ‘Never Trump’ vote (Nikki McRomBush)
Politico ^ | 11/22/23 | Sally Goldenberg, Natalie Allison and Meridith McGraw

Two years after Nikki Haley vowed not to challenge Donald Trump for the presidential nomination, the former South Carolina governor who served in his administration and once called him a “friend” is becoming the standard-bearer of the movement to knock him out.

In recent weeks, Haley has drawn a surge in support from Trump-skeptical Republicans across the GOP, including donors and organizers in early voting states. A group of former Tim Scott donors is preparing to host a fundraiser for her in Manhattan. Haley’s campaign events in New Hampshire this week required overflow rooms. And in Iowa — where Haley has steeper competition from Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis — some conservatives are busy corralling support for her.

“Nikki Haley is certainly locking up a lot of the Never Trumpers,” said Matthew Bartlett, a Republican operative who has worked on several presidential campaigns and is unaffiliated this cycle. “She also has real room to grow.”

Donors getting ready to host Haley in New York on Dec. 4 include two people close to Paul Singer, the hedge fund billionaire who has been critical of Trump. Greg Wendt, a former Scott supporter who has donated to moderate, anti-Trump Republicans such as John Kasich and John McCain, is now expressing interest in Haley, according to a New York City-based Republican fundraiser granted anonymity to speak freely about private conversations. And Doug Gross, a Republican operative who was the Iowa GOP nominee for governor in 2002, told POLITICO he plans to caucus for Haley after surveying the field for months in search of an alternative to Trump.

“Never Trumpers and ‘Anybody but Trumpers’ are really consolidating around her from a financial standpoint,” said Gross, who was chief of staff to former Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad.

In other words: all the liberal Republicans like Nikki Haley, or Nikki McRomBush.

We might as well call her Nikki Rockefeller.

Good to see the DeSantis scam being dealt with, but I really doubt that Nimroda has a chance unless the Leftists can do away with Trump first.

If she were the only R candidate running, I still wouldn’t vote for her.

Not all the other votes for other candidates will break to other non-candidates. Many will break for Trump.

The guy has over 50% percent in some polls, but the MSM is ignoring his candidacy, and focusing only on the legal issues. Are they pumping any of also-runners on the dem side by more than 1% of the attention they are giving even, say, Crispy Creme?

The left’s support of anybody-not-Trump is an attempt to draw off enough votes in the first round of the GOP Convention to throw it into a brokered situation where the GOP RINO establishment there can screw him out of the nomination by arbitrary rules changes.

That's the only chance any of them have, and they must have been assured from insiders that Trump would not be on the ballot in 2024. But with each day, that's looking more doubtful, and so maybe Nimroda thinks she can get a veep spot, much like GHW Bush was foisted on Reagan, but somehow I don't think Trump is going to want her.

I do not believe, at this point, that even the rudest and crudest RINOs can muster enough support to force a brokered nomination to somehow deliver a blow to Trump. They might as well be sneezing in a tornado.

Trump is truly a force of nature. And it is not nice to fool with nature.

Haley’s got about as much chance as Pence—and he’s not even running.

Let me guess the person that would make that call is Ronna McRomeny. If that happened would Trump finally trash her like he should have done years ago?

So the GOP’s financial backers and backroom dealers are consolidating around this woman. Who cares? She’s not going to get the nomination. I’d vote for Trump, DeSantis or Ramaswamy in the general election. Under no circumstance will I ever cast a vote for Haley or Christie.

Haley is the establishment’s new useful idiot. Gov. Ron didn’t prove to be as controllable as they wished, so here’s the backup.

Not so sure he was “foisted “, Reagan still operated on the 11th commandment, and imagine he thought having bush would be a unifying act.

One of the few complaints I have of Pres Trump was the swamp creatures he surrounded himself with, but I do cut him some slack for not realizing how deep and wide the swamp was and that in DC there is the uniparty

Amazing how much he accomplished very little political support, lyin er ah Ryan comes to mind as exhibit 1

I hope and pray that this time around he will come in with eyes wide open and a chainsaw, but it will be a tough fight, the toughest he has ever faced

Que the spartan memes, finding like minded folks who have a spine and can’t be blackmailed will be a challenge like no other

That is my hope also. I am ONLY voting for Trump, whether he is on the ballot or not. And for me to vote for a Senate or House candidate, he/she will have to have voiced support for Trump.

She is careful not to critcize Trump too harshly because she is smart enough to realize that would kill her chances to do so.
