“find forgiveness in their heart and find a way to be able to come to terms with what they’ve done.”
I am not understanding this statement made by the victim’s father. Is he hoping the perpetrators forgive themselves for murdering his son? Shouldn’t they be asking the father for forgiveness? Shouldn’t they be on their knees repenting? Should they ever “come to terms” by what they have done? One wonders if it even matters to them.

He is under stress and you say odd things under stress. He probably does not want to but may be trying to find the emotional resources to forgive his son's killers. (Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who have trespassed against us.)

Also, who knows if he actually said this. Might be garbled slop from the reporter or editor.
