Hundreds of Jewish people headed to Tuesday’s pro-Israel rally in DC were left stranded when bus drivers staged “a deliberate and malicious walk-off,’’ a major Jewish organization said.
The “anti-protest” left a charted flight from Detroit — about 300 people — on the Dulles Airport tarmac for about 11 hours before being sent back home, causing them to miss the entire March for Israel event.
“I thought it was nuts, I thought it was crazy that we’re blocked from getting to the rally,” Jonathan Kaufman told The Post, adding that there were “frantic” calls to find out what was happening as they were stranded for hours.
“Our right to assembly is a constitutional right — and this was straight up blocking that.”
Kaufman and 900 others hopped on three private planes out of Detroit that were charted by the Jewish Federation of Detroit, which also booked several buses to transport the massive group of ralliers to the march at DC’s National Mall.
The three private planes out from Detroit were chartered by the Jewish Federation of Detroit, which also booked several buses to transport its nearly 1,000 ralliers to the march at DC’s National Mall.
A third of the passengers weren’t allowed to leave the tarmac, however, after several buses failed to show up on the tarmac upon their 10:30 a.m. landing, according to a federation spokesperson.
The drivers had organized a “mass sick out” day to prevent Jewish ralliers from attending the much-anticipated march, leaving just a handful available to meet their obligations.
“We have learned from the bus company that this was caused by a deliberate and malicious walk-off of drivers,” the spokesperson told The Post.

How do you avoid hitting all the people wandering around on the tarmac? Are you suggesting the next time I'm at an airport terminal I should simply find a way to stroll around on the tarmac? I see lots of doors I could try to open.
My guess they'd have to be escorted to the terminal. Then on return escorted back out to the plane. I don't know if security personnel are available for that.
I don’t know why you are so unbalanced calling people names, not a good look for a pilot. I guess if it was me, I would get a cab, but I am used to taking care of myself. But arranging transportation for a large group that is probably complaining about having already paid, that is a horse of a different color.
You call people names, directly and indirectly, but you’re just a weasel for not wanting to admit it.
A third of the scheduled busses didn’t show. Seems they could have gotten one that did show, to shuttle people from tarmac to airport terminal train station.
LOL, whatever, dude. May the force be with you. Fly safe.
I call them the Vichy Jews. Among them were those who turned on their own people and turend them into the SS Nazis, hoping to save themselfves from the ovens ...and some did.
They cause terrible suffering but I will pray that YWHW will sort that out in his Divine wrath. They are the prime reason Israel is at war right now, destroying Nethanyahu at every turn they can.
ALL their TRAVEL costs need to be reimbursed-—FRONT DOOR TO FRONT DOOR.
IS the bus company being ID’d yet???
I heard of this happening to a totally unrelated group of demonstrators a couple of years ago—conservatives heading to DC for some event. Guess it’s going around bus driver social media.
But how stupid is that, to make an open-and-shut lawsuit.
Exactly!
Don’t you think this happens a dozen or more times a day with airlines? What penalty do they suffer other than ticket refunds?
Quite a bit. They have paid my hotel bills many times and gave me vouchers for many times the cost of the flight.
They can’t just cancel.
There are reasons that they can cancel, but not without weather difficulties.
I’ve been in these situations. They normally say there is a delay, then another, then another, .... and then cancel. They don’t just cancel up front or you would get another transport right away.
I travel a lot internationally and am able to improvise around most obstacles. Even if shuttle vans were rented and then bill the carrier that cancelled.
I have run many conferences with hundreds of people at many locations. You always have problems and learn to adapt and overcome obstacles. Even replaced keynote speakers at last minute or stepped in and did the presentation myself when speakers don’t show up on time.
There are too many sheep and not enough shepherds.
Yes, I've thought about that aspect too. Myself, I'd draw the line at pro-aborts. A lawyer has to represent criminals. A doctor has to treat the despicable. A bus driver should should do his job.
I have no idea. I sure hope so.
Agreed. We are living in a crazy, potentially dangerous world.
Because everyone at the airport was in on the giant screw job to prevent these people from attending the demonstration?
According to two of the articles on the incident the charter flight passengers did not go through TSA security. They met their bus’ on the tarmac in a charter area, but those for whom there was no transportation were not allowed in the terminal where they might have taken public transportation due to the lack of TSA clearance.
