On Thursday, two major GOP donors saw the writing on the wall and decided to back the leading Republican presidential candidate and 45th President Donald Trump for the nomination as his lead in the polls continues to cement both nationally and in the early primary states. One of the donors, Robert Bigelow, who decided to back Trump, actually abandoned DeSantis to do so given that DeSantis has failed to create enough momentum nationally and, despite his best efforts, has been unable to significantly dent Trump's lead in Iowa.
Bigelow, who is the founder of Budget Suites of America and Bigelow Aerospace, told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that DeSantis isn't strong enough to take on Trump and win the White House. "At this point in time, we need the guy in the White House who scares the hell out of every other leader in the world who intends to do harm to this country," he explained.
The Republican megadonor went on to explain that Trump "was a really good commander … which is what this country needs." He did warn that he wants to see Trump "get out of the kangaroo court problems that he's involved in" before he backs him financially, however. Trump's legal troubles haven't stopped Home Depot co-founder Bernie Marcus from backing the former president, though.
Marcus, a major donor to Republicans, announced his endorsement of Trump via an op-ed where he wrote, "For Democrats, the choice is simple. If you feel that you are better off now than you were three years ago, you should vote for Joe Biden or whoever is the Democrat candidate. For Republicans, the choice is also simple. Let's face it: Donald Trump is going to win the nomination. You should be doing all you can to ensure his winning the general election."
Marcus went on to explain the various issues facing America, including the crisis on the southern border, the turmoil abroad, inflation destroying the American middle class, and various other issues. "This should be an issue for all Americans — Democrats, Republicans, and Independents — that I hope to reach with this op-ed. You enjoy the freedoms and values on which the nation was founded," Marcus explained. "Sadly, I see these freedoms and values being eroded today as government gets bigger and weaponized against its political opponents."
According to the Five Thirty Eight polling average for the Republican primary, Trump has the support of 56.6 percent of the GOP electorate nationally, while DeSantis has 14.1 percent support. The race is slightly higher in Iowa, with Trump having the support of 45.6 percent of GOP voters while DeSantis has 17.1 percent. In New Hampshire, however, DeSantis is struggling in a distant third place. Trump has 45.3 percent support from Republicans in The Granite State, while former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley (R-SC) has 14.9 percent support, and DeSantis only has 10.9 percent backing. It's a similar story in South Carolina, with Trump at 51.2 percent, Haley at 20.0 percent, and DeSantis at 11.3 percent. Given the double-digit lead in every early state, Trump seems almost unstoppable.
Agree, and it's maddening that the losers pretending to vie for the nomination aren't suspending their campaigns and ALL get together to support Trump. I can't stand these people dividing the party, they are no better than Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell and Mitt Romney.
Not unless the voter fraud machine is still going strong.
DeSantis raised more money than all of the other candidates this past quarter. He raised more money than the alleged 215 pound chicken Trump too.
Let’s hope Biglow comes clean on Skinwalker Ranch...
But yes, he should even overcome the usual election fraud to win again in 2024.
And it apparently is.
No he will NOT. They will steal it again.
Unless it’s winning in November 2024, it’s not winning. I am tired of all the winning we’ve had since 2016.
Republicans are still underdogs to win the Presidency in 2024 https://electionbettingodds.com/PresidentialParty2024.html The bettors are assuming there’s a good chance the Rats will dump Biden in order to win.
Exactly....if the libtards continue their cheating ways, no hope for a GOP victory.
We all can rest assured that the Dems and their minions will be doing all they can to ensure that Trump loses the general election. They’ll cheat as much as they can and will have a few more new things up their sleeves. They’ll pull it off and nothing will be done, no matter who screams about it.
The Dem Voter Fraud Machine can only cover a 1-2% deficit.
If Trump has more than a 5% lead, then his margin will be fraud-resistant. (I'll never say 'fraud-proof.')
Oh, stop it. There is no need for that from any quarter. Unless something unusual happens, DeSantis is not going to be the Republican nominee. It is entirely possible that something unusual could happen, probably will given the persecutions against Trump, but vitriol causes divisions we don't need at such a perilous time for the Country.
I doubt a single one of them will support Donald John Trump, because they are all the sore loser types.
I agree, which is why the GOP always grasps defeat from the jaws of victory.
Trump did win in 2020 and that issue still has to be addressed before another election can happen.
A number of things are happening seemingly unrelated that lead me to believe they are moving us toward a vortex that will result in the removal of the Biden Administration and likely postpone the 2024 election.
Tommy Tuberville has been holding up the promotion of top tier military personnel for the past 6 months leaving the military basically in the hands of senior officers.
The strange even bewildering recent election process in the House resulting in Mike Johnson as Speaker. I mean seriously, how the hello did that happen?
Justice Clarence Thomas suddenly deciding to hear a case that would invalidate the Florida 2020 and 2022 elections.
Speaker Mike Johnson suddenly backtracking on impeachment hearings for Biden.
I’m seeing a path to The invalidation of the whole 2020 election, the removal of the entire Biden administration and the reinstatement if you will of Donald Trump with the full acceptance and support of the military.
Now that exact scenario may or may not unfold but sometime between now and Nov 2024 things are going to be resolved and its not going to be through an election.
The things Trump is telling us he is going to do would be impossible unless he was acting as Commander in Chief under military law of war. 20 federal judges would rush to stop his mass deportation plan before it ever got started. Not to mention shutting the border and wiping out the drug cartels. Then there’s Trump’s plan to reduce street crime by 85% and prosecute and hang all the traitors for treason.
There’s no way any of this stuff can happen under civil law and we all know it. So I wouldn’t count on a 2024 election.
He will win the primary. That’s a fact. Beyond that it’s up in the air.
Trump won in 2020 as well. I will never let that one go.
You can say it all day long. He’s not in the big boy chair. He should have fixed the election mess. But he focused on inauguration numbers.
“DeSantis raised more money than all of the other candidates this past quarter.”
And he still has no chance of winning the primaries.
None.
Zip.
Zilch.
Nada.
