Californians:

Elected Ronald Reagan Governor, 1967-1975

Passed Prop 13, 1978, property tax is set at 1% and limits increases to 2% per year

Passed Prop 187, 1994, denied taxpayer benefits to illegal aliens. Passed by voters, sabotaged by Mexico, the national GOP and Democrats

2020 election, the 3rd highest vote total for Donald Trump.

Thanks for all of the assitance given us by those outside of California.

What? Oh. Nevermind.

“Sedona was Looney 30 yrs ago”

More like the last 50 years. And you’d probably find that the first big wave of new age kooks moved there from NYC.

“Sorry but open borders and turning kali into a brown and yellow state is what did it in”

When we fought back against the illegal alien invasion with Prop 187 in 1994, George Bush junior flew out here to join Mexico in opposing us. Jack Kemp and Bill Bennett did the same.

For years we had to listen to half wits in the national GOP preach to us about the glories of immigration, illegal as well as legal. Everyone who came here was going to be “a conservative” according to these geniuses.

Bush junior, the sterling example of the Make America Mexico Republicans, tried his damnedest to give the illegals another amnesty, but his time the Xenophobic Nativist Racists won. And yes those are terms that the Bushies called us, even here at FR.

The idea that illegals are what transformed California politics is misguided however. Legal immigrants played a far bigger role. There are more legals than illegals. They vote, and they routinely vote left of the remaining minority of American natives.

Charlestown Demographics
White 74% Hispanic 9% Asian 7% African American 6%

There was an article in the Economist way back when the Economist was center-right, that when the percentage of blacks crosses a certain percentage of the population in a town or city, the economy crashes, crime markedly increases etc.

That wasn’t the question you evaded.

This was the question: Did your bro tell it was just like LA there?

Every place where they can make a buck off the venue because of the scenery etc., they’ll do it. Those venues mostly get populated by liberals, artsy lefty types who have money. I can’t even think of a major patriotic owned/supported venue that attracts millions like the leftist run entities. Just like Santa Fe NM, Orlando, Disney Anaheim. National parks, same thing, run by the Communist who hijacked this government. Jack up the rates, reservations only, punitive rules, threaten to shut them down unless they get more money, arm the rangers...on and on.

It’s always best to avoid tourist bait venues.

Prop 187? Where we won the election big, and the state along with their federal co-conspirators declared the election we just won to be, “illegal” and then they burned our ballots. That’s how they roll.

187 would have put a stop to tax paid services for illegals among others things. The results of that government intrusion and overreach back in 1994 can be seen from coast to coast, in your face, every town and city. Some of us told the country what was coming, few paid attention.

Prop 187 was killed via an unholy alliance of the Bush GOP with California Democrats and a liberal activist judge.

Judge Marianne Pfaelzer knew that if she issued her decision before Pete Wilson left office that he would appeal it. So she sat on her decision until Gray Davis took office. Gray Davis wouldn’t appeal it.

What most people don’t know is that Schwartzenegger could have appealed Pfaelzer’s decision when he took office. But Arnold was (and is) nothing more than a Bush GOP sock puppet and No Borders Bush loved those Mexican illegals way more than the California voters he labelled racist xenophobes. That whole wing of the GOP is still like that.

AFAIK there is no time limit on appealing the corrupt Pfaelzer decision. Any California governor can still do it.

Installed to a few California expats here in Florida. All of them are conservatives. They love the low taxes and the cheap home prices. One bought a new home for 785k on 6 acres, he sold a house built in 2005 on 1/4 acre for 1.7 millions.

You bet. The state along with their federal co-conspirators. It was a setup. Funny, most of the wealthy in CA use illegals or foreign nationals as house servants. I think these massive waves of illegals they're forcing on us should be allowed to camp on the streets and front yards of the residence in Brentwood, Palos Verdes, Newport Beach etc...

Arnold was too busy banging the house servants.

I think the conversation was about the north end of Charleston South Carolina which is towards Summerville which is very nice

Charleston is nearly half black and more black than white

But the historic part is nice

I could be wrong

Reply Could have meant Charlestown Boston

Thanks for clearing it up. Some kind folks in this thread were giving me some insight on Boston and Charlestown MA. I’m considering moving from Austin to Boston.

I was under the impression that happened a long time ago. At least the hippie town part, not sure about how much California influence.

LOL! Armisen, Hader and Wiig— comedy genius. I also loved how they had Kenan Thompson with blond hair in The Californians.

It’s a shame I haven’t watched any more. Hardly missed a week for the first 30 years, but with the rise of Zero, Hildabeest and LGBT worship, yuk.

Thank you. I will add those places to my list of towns/places to explore. I hoping to fly back to Boston to do more exploring in the near future.
