Two young men were arrested for tearing down posters of hostages kidnapped in the Israel-Hamas war that were hung up outside a private property in Gramercy Park, police said Thursday.
Charlotte Wimer, who uses he/him pronouns, and Gray Segal, both 18, were arrested just after 5 p.m. Wednesday after they were caught ripping down posters of Israeli children and adults kidnapped by the terrorist group on display outside 201 East 23rd Street, cops said.
Both Wimer and Segal, who live on the Lower East Side, were charged with criminal mischief, police said.
Video taken moments after the incident and shared on X shows the two men in handcuffs standing in front of the disheveled wall of posters.
Before the incident, the wall of the privately-owned building had been completely covered in red and white signs with the word “KIDNAPPED” written in all caps above photographs of missing hostages, as well as posters of the Israeli flag. Photo taken Thursday afternoon and shared under the initial video on X showed that new posters had been put up in place of the ones that were callously torn down.
Posters drawing attention to the 240 people who were taken hostage by Hamas during the terror group’s Oct. 7 surprise attack on Israel have been plastered all across the Big Apple as a way to draw attention to their plight.

People abandon them there. They are on public property like poles? So why can’t you take something down? If on private property with owners permission I understand that.
It is vandalism to tear things off of private property. This was on a wall belonging to someone. They had no business tearing up his stuff.

I got involved in politics, and ran into the intel op which runs it. I have been dealing with it for ten years now. What have I learned? Most of politics is a show, to convince you that you live in a country where you elect the leaders, and have control. None of that is true. The “intelligence” community runs the country and is in full control, even picking the leaders.
From my experience, this is most likely a show/psyop by them. The posters are to irritate those who oppose Israel bombing Hamas and probably to distract from the clear fact the attacks were allowed by Israeli intel, and maybe even created as part of a plan for some greater purpose by those who control both Israeli Intel and Hamas. The real elites who control the West may want Gaza for something. To them the lives of Israelis, Gazans, even us, are all worthless and expendable.
These characters may very well be part of the domestic Stasi surveillance operation in the US, who were running surveillance on political actors just yesterday, and were told to play this role. I think most of the January sixth people were that too. If so, their arrest is also a show/psyop, both to engender a perception among people that even something as minor as ripping down a poster which was probably put up illegally to begin with, can have the state throw you in the slammer on hate crime charges, and to discourage anyone from getting involved in anything, or in any way interfering with the show being put on.

I did make the private/public property distinction. I agree if it is private property with permission, then it is wrong to tear anything down.
