Former President Donald Trump has opened up a commanding primary lead over Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in the 2024 GOP presidential primary in the Sunshine State, a poll released Tuesday shows.

Trump, now at 60 percent support, enjoys clear majority backing in the state that just a year ago reelected DeSantis in a landslide win. DeSantis, down at just 21 percent, trails the former president by 39 points. Every other candidate is in single digits, with former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley at six percent, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie at two percent, and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy at one percent.

The poll, conducted by the Public Opinion Research Lab (PORL) at the University of North Florida (UNF) in Jacksonville, surveyed 788 registered GOP voters from Oct. 23 through Nov. 4. The margin of error is 3.77 percent.

“Despite historically high approval in the polls, Governor DeSantis losing steam in his home state doesn’t bode well for his national campaign,” Dr. Michael Binder, PORL faculty director and professor of political science at UNF, said. “Even if you wipe out the rest of the competition in a head-to-head, Trump leads DeSantis by 20 points.”

"Well he may be enhancing himself monetarily, but he’s certainly not enhancing himself politically."

He did initially enhance himself politically, by not having to resign to run. Once he announced his run the end of May, he found out just how unelectable he was, but he hasn't let it stop him from scamming the system. Knowing what I know of him now, I would never vote for him, and if I'm still alive in 2028, and by some atrocity, he ends up being the GOPe candidate, I won't vote for him. I'll write Trump's name in then, even if he's dead.

Trump continues to suffer from DeSantis Derangement Syndrome

Trump has been going after Biden in a big way for quite awhile. He really mentions Meatball only in passing.

You have to actually listen to see that he has been going after Biden all the time.

Trump is indeed too cowardly to debate the greatest governor in America. He cites phony polls as his sole reason, even though he is dumping 2 million on negative ads about RDS just this week in Iowa alone. Trump knows that he can’t defend his record of deadly jabs and hiring RINOS and Deep State operatives throughout his short lived tenure. He gave the keys to the country over to Fauci and the entire globalist agenda.

Without the teleprompter, Trump, about to soon turn 78, strays off into weird tangents these days. He gets names and places wrong. He alienates huge blocks of conservatives while trying to denigrate RDS’s fight for the unborn. He sure isn’t the same guy as in 2016. The name calling has become more juvenile and nastier too.

As detestable as Hilary Clinton is, at least she has the common sense to know how overly polarizing of a person she is to be elected, in spite of having a faithful following of lib zombies defending her every snide comment. She knows her one true chance to be prez has come and gone forever.

Sadly, Trump isn’t remotely capable of having that same kind of inner reflection and sensibility.

“ Why is he still running if he can’t even win his home state? He’s beclowning himself.”

Trump could be asked the same question. No?

Desantis was the best path. His age, proven track record of solid conservative leadership and above all else he hasn’t been smeared by the media like Trump.

However, as I’ve said before, if the country wants to nominate him as the Repub candidate I’ll be in line to vote for Trump again….3rd time. And if this is true and Desantis can’t even win Fl it seems certain.

Also as I’ve asked before what is to keep Trump from losing again? Left still hates him, moderates are still wishy washy. Seems like a possible rerun.

And if your reply is “but he was cheated in 2020” then what had been done to fix that?

Trump will win if the election was held today. But here's the thing. The war in Gaza will end by then. Biden will get help from the DNC to run the propaganda on his behalf.
