I’ve heard that over the years and he doesn’t make any more sense now than it ever did. If the person making the complaints had any reasonable correction to a problem, there wouldn’t be any need to voice a complaint, would there?

I had a boss tell me once not to tell him my problems but to give him the solutions. WHAT? If I had the solutions, I wouldn’t have needed to bother him, would I?

A more honest answer - “I DON’T HAVE A CLUE as to the correct way to handle the problem so you let me know how you work it out.”

?? the complaint is usually made because no one has corrected a situation. therefore bring constructive suggestions how to ameliorate. MANY complain just to complain and when asked how they would improve situation: crickets.
