House Speaker Rep. Mike Johnson said the federal probe into President Biden's alleged criminal foreign business dealings will continue under his leadership, and stated that it is "very likely" Biden committed impeachable offenses.
This comes on the backs of recent reports that show President Biden cashed a $200,000 check from his brother, James Biden, which was issued the same day that Americore, a rural hospital operator no longer in business, wired a $200,000 loan into James and Sara Biden's account in exchange for helping the company secure connections in the Middle East.
Speaking to Fox News' Sean Hannity on Thursday, Speaker Johnson said: "The reason we shifted to the impeachment inquiry stage on the president himself was because if, in fact, all the evidence leads where we believe it will, that’s very likely impeachment."
Johnson explained that under the US Constitution bribery is listed as grounds for impeachment.
"Bribery's listed there, and it looks and smells a lot like that," Johnson said. "We're going to follow the truth wherever it leads. We're going to engage in due process because, again, we're the rule-of-law party."
"I know people are getting anxious and they’re getting restless, and they just want somebody to be impeached, but we don't do that like the other team," he told Hannity, referring to the Democrats' "sham" impeachment trials of former Republican President Donald Trump.
"We have to base it on the evidence," Johnson said.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) released a bombshell report earlier this month which revealed that James Biden had procured loans from Americore "based upon representations that his last name, 'Biden,' could 'open doors' and that he could obtain a large investment from the Middle East based on his political connections."
"James Biden wrote this check to Joe Biden as a 'loan repayment.' Americore—a distressed company—loaned money to James Biden who then sent it to Joe Biden," Comer said.
"Even if this was a personal loan repayment, it's still troubling that Joe Biden's ability to be paid back by his brother depended on the success of his family's shady financial dealings."
Comer demanded to know whether Biden has documents to prove that he had lent a large sum of money to his brother, whether he had similar arrangements with other family members, and if Biden knew that the same day he had received the check that his brother received the same amount from Americore.
"Records obtained by the Committee do show numerous large incoming transactions into the personal account of James and Sara Biden from various entities. Some of these transaction records may have obscured the identity of the true payer, but no records in the Committee's possession state that Joe Biden made a large loan payment to his brother," Comer explained.
Since the congressional probe into the Biden family's shady foreign business dealings began, President Biden has maintained that he has had no involvement in illegal foreign business matters. The Republican-controlled House is trying to disprove his claims with evidence gathered by committee members.
Yeah, Mikey, just like water is very likely wet, and the sun very likely shines. Now get off your ass and do your impeachment duty!!
Very definitely.
Well, you're getting warmer. Let's just say it is certain that Biden committed impeachable offenses and it is just as certain that the GOP house will not impeach.
Biden must not be discouraged from running for a second term.
He should be encouraged to agree to a series of pre-election debates with the Republican candidate.
Booting him out of office a few months before the end of his Presidency will only gets us President Commie-LA.
Too bad we can’t impeach Biden’s handlers.
Mixed feelings about this. I’d rather have Trump vs Biden than Trump vs Kamala. Way too many stupid zombie Dem voters out there who don’t have that much of a problem with Kamala.
Excuse me???? Speaker Johnson has been in office for several days.
How about giving the man a chance???????
Or I guess my question really is should Biden be impeached for actions taken before he was President?
If it can be proven that Biden and/or his immediate family took payments on or after January 20, 2021, then no brainer, impeach the sumbitch.
But if they're relying on the bank suspicious activity reports from when he was V.P. or when he was between government jobs, then I'm not sure that is a precedent we want to be setting for a future Trump second term.
I tend to agree.... let it fall into place now... it is most definitely going to be ADDRESSED and addressed properly with this new SPeaker of The House... I have no doubts.
A felony is a felony no matter when it was committed.............
Johnson is in his fourth term as a Representative. He should know what needs to be done. How many more days of issuing platitudes should he be given???????
He’s playing the game-get it? Know how it’s played?
But it is decided in a court of law if something is a felony or not. Impeachment is for 'high crimes and misdemeanors' while in office, not before being in office.
Do you want to see a Democratic Congress impeaching President Trump for overstating the value of Mar-a-Lago in 2010?
Covering up crimes while in office and using your administration to intercede to hide material facts of and stonewall the investigation is impeachable on its own merit.
The only good thing about President camel toe would be that she would prevent Hillary from becoming the first woman president. Which is what she desperately wants.
Agreed. The 'weaponization' of the DOJ against the J6 protestors and Trump would be impeachable in my book.
My money is on Newsome being the first female President.
“The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.”
Doesn’t say when the offenses occur.................
The only good thing about President camel toe would be that she would prevent Hillary from becoming the first woman president. Which is what she desperately wants.
