Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) and newly elected Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) are headed for a showdown over emergency funding for Ukraine and funding the government beyond Thanksgiving, two tough issues that will test their ability to work together.

McConnell says he wants to keep military aid to Ukraine and Israel tied together because he views those conflicts as part of a larger global threat. He has repeatedly warned that picking a fight with Democrats that could result in a government shutdown is bad politics for the GOP.

“He has repeatedly warned that picking a fight with Democrats that could result in a government shutdown is bad politics for the GOP.”

Offering up trillion$ for stuff with bipartisan support is no logical cause for a fight.

“Time to expose Deep State Mitch to the world!”

He’s been exposed for over 20 years.

McConnell needs to permanently retire in a nice cemetery.

McConnell wants to keep the funding for Ukraine and Israel tied together as cover for the neocons who want unlimited funding for Ukraine with no accountability and transparency. They can later claim that they had to vote for Ukraine funding because Israel needed the aid asap.

He has repeatedly warned that picking a fight with Democrats that could result in a government shutdown is bad politics for the GOP.

Who cares if it's BAD POLITICS if it is the correct policy and good for the nation and our taxpaying citizens?

It’s not worth it to fight the Democrats in any way. Just go along. “

It’s actually worse than that. Mitch is a traitor and a collaborator. He wants to give Biden his BS bundle.

Do separate bills and see what happens.

Note to McConnell...

Senate "Leader" is not a position recognized in the Constitution.

However, Speaker of the House is a constitutional position.

” Simply false. Without McConnell holding strong, Merrick Garland would be on the Supreme court. “

I have long given McConnell credit for that, and scant little else.

McConnell has proven himself to serve as the controlled opposition to the Democrats for far too long. Beyond that, he was as back-stabbing to president Trump as they come.

McConnell is as weak as he is duplicitous. Time to resign and get those ridiculous chins off of television.

We need to stop that. That scumbag was holding the opening for Clinton. He believed she was a lock. He thought Trump had no chance of winning and said so. If he thought for a moment Trump was going to win he would have seated Garland bank it.

Force the border closure by withholding money for the executive branch and try to remember your pledge to defund the 75,000 new IRS agents.

Pass the bills. Then dare the WH and the Senate to reject them. This old game where they US House is told what they must pass by the Senate and the WH needs to end right now

It's troubling to see elected US officials pledging fealty to foreign governments, bearing gifts of $billions in arms

You’ve got it wrong the gift isn't to the foreign governments the gift is to the manufactures of the weapons and the patriotic politicians who receive the kickbacks.
