..fired back on Thursday when asked by TV Globo’s Raquel Krähenbühl about President Joe Biden’s comments about the deaths of civilians in the war in Gaza.
Krähenbühl asked Kirby whether he thought it was insensitive for the President to say that.. Kirby said Biden would not apologize and dismissed her assertion that Biden’s comments were harsh
“What’s harsh is the way Hamas is using people as human shields. What’s harsh is taking a couple of hundred hostages and leaving families anxious, waiting and worrying to figure out where their loved ones are. What's harsh is dropping in on a music festival and slaughtering a bunch of young people just trying to enjoy an afternoon. I could go on and on. That's what's harsh,” he said.
“And being honest about the fact that there have been civilian casualties and that there likely will be more is being honest, because that's what war is. It's brutal. It's ugly. It's messy. I've said that before. President also said that yesterday,” added Kirby.
“Doesn't mean we have to like it. And it doesn't mean that we're dismissing anyone of those casualties. Each and every one is a tragedy in its own right...and each and every one we should try to prevent. And that is why we’re in close contact with our Israeli counterparts, to do everything we can to help them minimize the risk to civilians that are in harm’s way. It would be helpful if Hamas would let [Gazans] leave....we know that there are thousands waiting to leave Gaza writ large, and Hamas is preventing them from doing it. That is what is harsh,” he stated.

President Biden’s approval rating among Democrats has plummeted to a record low of 75% — down a staggering 11 percentage points over just the last month, according to a new Gallup poll conducted between Oct. 2 and Oct. 23.
Why it matters: Biden is at risk of alienating members of his own party with his unequivocal support for Israel, which has carried out a weeks-long bombardment and total siege of Gaza in response to Hamas’ Oct. 7 terrorist attacks.
An annual Gallup poll conducted in February found that Democrats sympathized more with Palestinians than Israelis for the first time in the survey’s two-decade history.
The divide is particularly stark between generations: Less than half (48%) of Gen Z and millennials believe the U.S. should publicly voice support for Israel, according to a recent NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll.
Zoom in: Biden’s initial response to the Oct. 7 massacre — including his trip to Israel, request for $14 billion in military aid, and speeches decrying Hamas as “sheer evil” — drew widespread praise from supporters of Israel.
But the president’s steadfast support for the Jewish state has not translated to new political support at home, according to four national polls conducted after Oct. 10.
Biden’s approval in October’s Gallup poll fell four points to match a record low of 37%, driven by his slide among Democrats and a four-point drop-off among independents (35%). His approval among Republicans remained steady at 5%.
The big picture: Biden has waved off calls from progressives and pro-Palestinian activists for a ceasefire in Gaza, even as he has privately nudged Israel to delay its ground invasion to secure the release of more hostages.
The death toll in Gaza — which has exceeded 7,000, according to the Ministry of Health of the Hamas-run government — is expected to spiral if and when the Israel Defense Forces enter the densely populated strip.
Biden has called for the flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza to increase — while stressing that Hamas does not represent the Palestinian people and condemning rising anti-Semitism and Islamophobia in the U.S.
The bottom line: Many Muslim and Arab Americans who consider themselves loyal Democratic voters have expressed a sense of betrayal over Biden’s support for the Israeli military campaign.
“Joe Biden has single-handedly alienated almost every Arab American and Muslim American voter in Michigan,” Democratic state Rep. Alabas Farhat told NBC News last week.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations demanded Biden apologize Wednesday for suggesting that he does not have confidence in the death toll cited by Gaza’s health ministry: “I’m sure innocents have been killed and it is the price of waging war,” Biden said.
Author a book on Israeli wars, David Brog said today the propaganda machine is ready to exploit any civilian deaths by the IDF but the Hamas plans during this long waiting period included booby traps and the unavoidable deaths of civilians including as human shields if the IDF gains any ground.
Interestingly he said Israel is too humane and good to do as Russia did in Chechnya and China did with the Uyghurs. Sweep in, kill everyone in their way and conquer and subdue the inhabitants decisively. Winning strategy in both cases.
Israelis will be too gentle with the vicious Hamas and others such as the Hezbollah to do that.
But will be blamed for civilians who die.
Then almost every Arab American and Muslim American as well as other voters who side with the brutally evil Hamas terrorists should leave! It's one thing to support the people who call themselves Palestinians to live in safety, peace and autonomy, but quite another to side with vicious savages who have no qualms whatsoever about butchering innocent people - including their own - for the lie that all they want is safety, peace and autonomy. Hamas' goal has ALWAYS been the annihilation of all Jews. It is Satanic at its core!

Terrorists have no sense of mercy and they hope for sympathy over the deaths of innocent people they put in harm’s way.
Today I happened to see a national news story we were supposed to not watch if it’s too graphic for us-——hospital patients who were hurt in shelling of Hamas soldiers’ rocket launch positions in the West Bank by Israel.
But the whole thing was due to innocent Israelis at home who were suddenly attacked by killers breaking in.
Sounds like he’s promising American deaths.
