One Republican and three Dems were not present at the quorom call. If that continues, the votes needed for Johnson to become Speaker are reduced, and Jeffries would only get a maximum of 209 votes. So 210 votes could win this for Johnson.

Oh, so other words, you have absolutely NO PROOF, whatsoever, for your BS nonsense claim, about Gaetz.

Got it.

Thought so.

I find it very informative to look at the “about” pages for the people who always seem to have something negative or nasty to say. Invariably, they seem to remain as incognito as possible with little or nothing posted there. I therefore suspect they are throwing stones from their glass houses, and really don’t want anyone to see what they really are through any kind of windows. I am confident that if they were indeed basking in perfection, they would want everyone to know....

Does that mean that those who write glowing biographies of themselves on here are "basking in perfection?"

To be fair, Gaetz did vote (last year) for legislation to decriminalize marijuana at the federal level. He was one of only three Republication House members to vote for it. But I have no idea what that has to do with “Cannabis, Inc.” or whatever the OP’s original reference means.

Predictably, Dem Rep. Aguilar (CA) nominates Hakeem Jeffries for Speaker of the House.

“NO CRs, no funding foreign wars”

In today’s world there is usually no such thing as a strictly “foreign war”.

Twice before America learned in cannot shrink into a shell as a way to avoid war. When we do the war we must face is worse than what preventing such wars would mean.

Ukraine is the worst war on European soil since WWII, because America and its NATO allies became wobbly.

The Isael-Hamas war is an opportunist Iranian prpxy war resulting from the Iranian calculation that Joe Biden is an appeasing idiot.

Failing to be strong and steadfast to start with can be a signal for adversaries to start wars. Failing to respond can be worse.

I’m excited about this guy too. If confirmed, we will have a more conservative speaker, and Pelosi and Hoyer will have lost their office space. I’ll take that.

“NO CRs

Johnson is committed to finishing the spending bills, but will probably take a short term CR to finish - McCarthy never should have take 6 weeks off

No, she was not. She was an exotic dancer in a Texas bar that won the heart of an elderly fellow.

From the roll call, 1 Republican and 3 Dems were absent. That would be 429 members voting requiring only 215 for a simple majority of votes cast.

Someone please explain, with all that is going on, and all thAt has to be done, how not having a GOP speaker of the House is better than having one that maybe does not meet everyone’s purist litmus test.

A party without a leader is a gang without a voice, as even every Conservative in the media notices, as Biden and the Dim leaders can speak for their party while the GOP in the House does not have a noticeable voice on anything.

Its time the egos and purist litmus tests were put aside in the GOP and everyone agree to approve a GOP speaker and get on with the “regular order” of the House instead of no order at all.

This speaker mess is a black mark on the Republican caucus - they have no leader and at this point seem to not want one either.

Children should not get elected to public office.
