The city is again expected to toughen its stance on migrants in the Big Apple’s overwhelmed shelter system by slapping a one-month limit on single migrants in homeless shelters, officials conceded Monday.
The 30-day limit had already been placed on single adult migrants in makeshift city shelters last September — but now the ban will extend to those in standard housing for the homeless run by the Department of Homeless Services.
“We anticipate that in the next several weeks we will be rolling out the timeline for the 30-day notices for adults in the DHS system,” New York City Department of Social Services Molly Wasow Park testified Monday, adding, “with the understanding that we will work with individuals who still need assistance at the end of 30 days.”
Park said the migrants affected by the policy were a small portion, about 2,000, of the 33,000 asylum seekers in the homeless shelter system. The majority of migrants in DHS care are families, according to City Hall.

As long as they register democrat during their stay....
Looks like that “better life” they were all looking for, was just the freebies, not the responsibilities.
New York City to the illegal: “You’ve been at the shelter for 30 days. You have to leave.”
The illegal: “By your own law, you have to provide for me. So I’m not leaving.”
Then what, New York City?
Who needs shelters when New Yorkians have such a wealth of empty businesses and offices to share? Open up the empty places to these needy migrants.
Let's encourage New Yorkians to step up to the plate, diversitywise, inclusionwise, and Sanctuarywise!
And, it's easy-peasy to fund such an historic inclusive gesture, as all they need to do is to raise taxes on the (cough, cough) "rich".
Then this:
“with the understanding that we will work with individuals who still need assistance at the end of 30 days.”
They’ll apparently get an appointment with a social worker after they are evicted.
Soon they’ll all be related to each other.

Hmm. And I suppose the social worker will put them up in a hotel, all expenses paid. That’s been the standard procedure for NYC.
If this keeps up, it’s going to eventually break NYC. Then the mayor will go to Albany and/or DC and ask for bailout money. Will the Republicans be strong enough to resist? Probably not.
I hear wedding bells!
The the singles will now pair up and say they are married. Same sex, no problem. No marriage certificate, no problem. Our country is so dumb.
Majority are families? Not from footage from the border, thousands of single men with families scattered in between.
