A global minimum tax on billionaires equal to 2% of their wealth could raise close to $250 billion (around €235.6 billion), the EU Tax Observatory estimated in a report released on Monday.
The measure would affect fewer than 3,000 individuals, but the group says the revenue could help governments to invest in key areas such as health care, education, and climate policies.
According to the Observatory’s calculations, billionaires' personal tax in the United States amounts to about 0.5% of their wealth.

So Billionaires who worked hard, and already paid tax on their accumulated wealth will be hit with another tax because it’s “not fair” that they’re billionaires?
No it will not. Wealth is mobile. They will simply move their wealth

Aside from the stupidity of this, once the camel’s nose is in the tent, the cut off will rapidly creep down and effect the middle class.
Correct. They will be taxed again, because it’s not fair to the socialist Marxist communist types, that they have such wealth.
What they don’t realize, or don’t care about, is that these billionaires don’t necessarily have many millions of dollars in the bank, to pay these taxes.
Billionaires and multi millionaires may be in that wealthy category, because they own companies, or property worth that much. It doesn’t mean they have all this money in the bank, ready to write a check to the tax man.
Some may well have to sell some property, to get the cash to pay such a tax.
And remember when a new tax is introduced, it tends to expand in the years ahead. They can say now, it’s only a 2% tax on the wealthiest of the wealthy. How long until that tax base goes way down to those of more limited wealth, and how long until that minor 2% tax rate inflates???

Enough to give five billion folks fifty dollars each.

The gap between the rich and those with nothing seems to really really REALLY bother some people for some unknown reason.
I can’t imagine why, except for it being a nice talking point to gin up class tension and drive people to the polls.
But what these people fail to understand is that there will ALWAYS be people who have NOTHING and who WANT to do nothing.
Which means there will always be people at the low end with ZERO.
So as society grows richer... OF COURSE THE GAP BETWEEN THE RICH AND POOR IS GOING TO GROW!
If these billionaires just spent their money on personal matters instead of using it to corrupt our politicians I might ignore them, but they are using their money instead to corrupt our government & society for their own personal interests and benefit. So go ahead and tax the hell out of them as far as I am concerned. These billionaires have acquired way too much power.

A Better Idea:
Remove regulations on the rest of us so we can be upwardly mobile.
That is a better way to achieve equality.
I don’t want to tax the billionaires—I just want them to stop bribing politicians—and stop cramming their insane views down the throats of the rest of us.
