Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (R) visited a commando formation in northern Israel, receiving an overview, and gave a speech for the troops, highlighting the ongoing threat from the terrorist organization Hezbollah.
“You fought with supreme bravery in Gaza, the stories are inspiring. I know you lost friends, it is a very, very difficult thing, but we are in a battle for life, a battle for home. This is not an exaggeration, this is not an exaggeration – this is the war,” Netanyahu told the Israeli soldiers.
“I cannot tell you right now if Hezbollah will decide to fully enter the war. If Hezbollah decides to enter the war, it will miss the Second Lebanon War,” the Israeli prime minister called back to a previous war with the terror group.
“That would be its biggest mistake ever. We will cripple it with a force it cannot even imagine, and the meaning for it and for the state of Lebanon is devastating,” Netanyahu added.
“But we are prepared for any scenario. You are prepared for any scenario,” he concluded.

I get the impression that there is a baiting of Iran here but what would that accomplish draw the USA into the war I figure.
Because he and his little club founded and fund Hamas, without telling the people of Israel. They need Hamas for their ongoing war games from which they get more and more power.
Odd misinformation of the history of Hamas. Bibi and pals did NOT form this outfit, and Iran funds 90% of it- not Israel.

Its roots are in the Palestinian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, and it is supported by a robust sociopolitical structure inside the Palestinian territories.” The Palestinian “territories” are not Israel.
To anyone paying attention, the IDF has been pummeling parts of Gaza nearly round the clock but mainly at night. Boom, boom, boom in the distance. Taking out hamas rocket emplacements, turning hideouts into rubble. Surveillance drones and jet aircraft are heard constantly over Gaza. Israel is softening them up and seems to know what they’re doing, despite your impatience.
What I know about military strategy would fit in a thimble, but it strikes me that the oddity so far was the baiting quality of the initial Hamas attack. It had no strategic purpose except to engage the Israelis and invite an attack on Gaza. Which makes me think that the thing to do is fake in the direction of Gaza and attack Hezbollah in Lebanon. Or go ahead and attack Gaza, and when Hezbollah unloads missiles on Israel, expect that this will be enough for the US to launch against Hezbollah and perhaps Iran. Netanyahu must really regret having to deal with Biden in the White House.

The almost cartoonishly evil nature of the Oct 7 attacks seems to have been designed to provoke a large scale ground attack on Gaza. Not just the usual bombing.
Just Gaza alone would be a military target five times the population of Grozny in 1995.
And against a prepared defence that Hamas has been building for the best part of two decades.
This whole thing seems to have been scripted by Iran, who are now closely allied with Hamas, and not just the Shia forces like Hezbollah.
The Russians had an estimated 15K casualties in Grozny, with 5000 dead. The Israeli army should do better, but they would be trying something against a force five times the size.
They have every right to do it, but I think Israel should not do the Gaza ground invasion.
Hezbollah, being terrorists, will do whatever is wrong.
You can count on it.

When his generals confirm the battlefield is prepped for the next phase of the war. Not a day sooner nor later.
This is all Kabuki theater. Israel allowed the Hamas attacks because there is no way the didn’t see it coming. Typical Israeli ploy to pretend to be the victims then demand US taxpayers give them more of our money.

Another guess is that it is a horrible way for Hamas to get the world's attention to solve the Palestinian issue of no state.
What you want to bet that when the shooting is over, there will finally be a two-state solution -- unless we all become annihilated in the process.

Their game is to make up a cover story. The cover story is used, believe it or not, to cover what’s really going on.
Their tactic is more than just playing all sides of a conflict. It’s owning all sides, which means creating all sides.
The only side they haven’t created, thus do not own, is the side of patriotic Christians. Otherwise known as MAGA.
