... if we have any weapons left over.
Oooooh! It’s a RED LINE (could fade to pink, though).
This is like 1066 again.
We have no treaty obligation to defend the Philippines.
Back when President Trump was in office, there were mean Tweets!
Things are better now!
The first sentence of the article:
“The United States renewed a warning Monday that it would defend the Philippines in case of an armed attack under a 1951 treaty”
Joe, let’s not write any checks we’re not sure we can cash.
People in the Philipines have very long memories when it comes to having their borders threatened. They don’t wish to just give up and open the floodgates like you do.
We are spreading ourselves too thin confronting Russia, China and Iran at the same time. We’ve already depleted much of our military stockpile arming Ukraine. I get the feeling we are being set up.
“We have no treaty obligation to defend the Philippines.”
Your country (whoever the hell your ‘we’ represents) may not have such a treaty but the United States and the Philippines do.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mutual_Defense_Treaty_(United_States%E2%80%93Philippines)
“The Mutual Defense Treaty between the Republic of the Philippines and the United States of America (MDT) was signed on August 30, 1951 by their representatives in Washington, D.C.. The treaty has eight articles and requires both nations to support each other if another party attacks the Philippines or the United States.”
China is the abusive mate who gets his way because everyone goes out of the way not to “trigger” him. Thing is, he’ll always reset to lesser and lesser triggers.
Please ask your parent or guardian to read and explain the article to you before you post.

Although SEATO went out of business in 1977, I suspect one or both of these are still in effect. Probably others too.
1) ANZUS Treaty, was an agreement signed in 1951 to protect the security of the Pacific.
2) Mutual Defense Treaty Between the United States and the Republic of the Philippines; August 30, 1951
Not that it matters, if the Biden administration wants & needs a war, I am sure they will come up with better reason than Bush’s,
“He wanted to kill my daddy, so he has weapons a mass destruction”
which worked pretty well.
3 front war coming up!
Well at least we have a full Strategic Petroleum Reserve to tide us over.
This must be why the RATS want to bring the Gaza Philistine fight to America so we can go fight one against the Chinese in the Philippines.
“We are spreading ourselves too thin confronting Russia, China and Iran at the same time. We’ve already depleted much of our military stockpile arming Ukraine. I get the feeling we are being set up.”
Me too. And the Strategic Oil Reserve has been squandered.
We will be sitting ducks.
We sure as hell DO have an obligation to defend the Philippines!
China is a bullying bastard who is trying to illegally steal Philippine territory, in order to completely control the flow of shipping through the South China Sea. That must NEVER be allowed to happen. You think COVID-related shortages were bad? China strangling those sea lanes would be FAR worse.
Wrong.
We have no treaty obligation to defend the Philippines
And which country are living in?
