“The United States renewed a warning Monday that it would defend the Philippines in case of an armed attack under a 1951 treaty”
“We have no treaty obligation to defend the Philippines.”

Although SEATO went out of business in 1977, I suspect one or both of these are still in effect. Probably others too.
1) ANZUS Treaty, was an agreement signed in 1951 to protect the security of the Pacific.
2) Mutual Defense Treaty Between the United States and the Republic of the Philippines; August 30, 1951

We have no treaty obligation to defend the Philippines
And which country are living in?
