“We can’t put down the phone without picking up the next one,” said a rabbi in Los Angeles who runs a nonprofit that offers firearm training to the Jewish community.
Henya Chein has always been terrified of guns. The Orthodox Jewish artist and mother of two felt uneasy about her husband’s decision to buy a handgun after they moved to Florida from New York last year.
“I would just block it out of my mind that it’s in the house,” Chein, 26, said.
But after watching the events unfold in Israel, she’s taken steps she never imagined herself ever taking. Chein attended a gun safety seminar at her synagogue last week followed by a one-on-one session at a local shooting range.
“Even at the range, I just wanted to drop the gun and run back home,” Chein said. “I was so scared, and I’m terrified of it.”
But she said she felt “forced to do it because Jewish people are not safe anywhere now.”
The deadly terrorist attack in Israel and the torrent of social media threats that followed have forced many American Jews to reconsider their long held stances against owning or using guns.

Funny thing is after the war, after Israel was founded. The Jews who came from Europe were looked down upon, especially by those who fought for Israel’s independence, because they were perceived as not fighting back.
As an American Jew, trust me. There is. Having met both, there’s a big difference I find refreshing. That and my own love of firearms made me ahead of the curve lately. I just wish the circumstances that made me ahead of the damn curve weren’t so...bestial.
Be it as it may, I do wish my fellow Jews take some hard lessons from this. DO NOT MORTGAGE YOUR FUTURE TO A SINGLE POLITICAL PARTY. And don’t vote for anyone who says the answer is more government. Freedom is always the damn answer. It may be dangerous but look at the alternatives.
Target shooting, plinking, competition, etc.
“Even at the range, I just wanted to drop the gun and run back home,” Chein said. “I was so scared, and I’m terrified of it.”
Go vote democrat again lady.
As long as it isn’t training up Marxist ‘-ish’ Lefties to then be deployed. Even so- the rest of the country is well ‘regulated’. The ‘conversion’ to this Bill within the Bill of Rights is somewhat humorous, and late to the realization of the greatness of the Founders.
It’s not surprising that Jews are arming themselves considering the threatening pro terrorist rallies screaming Jew hate. MAGA supporters are likely targets as well. A Hamas/BLM/Antifa massacre is likely to happen soon. No one is safe. Avoid large gatherings like Taylor Swift concerts.
All of us who exercise our 2A rights should encourage and help new gun owners to be safe, competent and vote for pro 2A candidates.
The biggest threat to the US is right wing militias and white supremacists.... American Jews keep saying this while Hamas/Antifa and the rest of the Demonrat scum ready to do away with us.
I have zero sympathy for Democrat Jews.
‘Look to the Hills Whence Our Salvation Comes!’
You’d think after the Holocaust every Jew who could would get a gun and know how to use it.
yup- them and liberal blacks
Well said.
No difference between the left wing ones here or there. But there is between the rank and file. I’ve had Israeli guys at my house for dinner. Both were IDF vets and reservists. Talked guns like I do.
Maybe now American Jews will wise up and support the the Second Amendment. They’ve been voting for the RATS for years, who want to eliminate 2nd amendment rights.
Liberal blacks are white liberals trapped in black bodies.
Guns are not the issue. Allegiances are.
For decades the Left has been convincing Jewish communities that the White Supremacist Boogyman was the danger. Now they see it from their own coalition...yet still in denial.
““There’s a big difference in American and Israeli Jews.””
Correction: “There’s a big difference in Leftist and Rightist Jews.”
