A) Jeffries: There have been ongoing informal conversations that have been undertaken over the last few days. I think there's a possibility those can accelerate now that Jim Jordan clearly does not have the votes to be Speaker. For good reason.

B) Jeffries: are many good men and women on the Republican side of the aisle who are qualified to be the Speaker of the House of Representatives. There is no circumstance where Jim Jordan is one of them.

I agree. I wasn’t trying to be dismissive of the possibility. I could definitely see the Democrats trying it and think there’s even a small but real chance that it could succeed. But if it did, I don’t see how the Republican party can continue as is. It might be the thing to finally cause the populist wing of the party to leave and form their own party.
