Friday’s “reach-across-the-aisle” story started with four centrist House Democrats, led by New Jersey’s Josh Gottheimer, proposing to authorize Speaker pro tempore Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.) to bring to the House floor emergency legislation that, among other things, would authorize supplemental aid to Israel and Ukraine.
Their proposal would also extend current government funding from Nov. 17 through Jan. 11, 2024, buying Congress an additional eight weeks to avoid a government shutdown.

Pelosi got full government funding through September 30th.
Then McCarthy got full government funding through November 17th.
Then they want full government funding through January 11th.
And guess what will happen in January??
Wash, rinse repeat.
THIS is why we need a change AND why Washington desperately wants more of the same.
Conservative Review Scores:
Patrick McHenry: 54%
Kevin McCarthy: 54%
Steve Scalise: 58%
Jim Jordan: 94%
Which of these things is not like the others?
NO
No more squishy crap
It could happen if Republicans don’t get their act together.
“Centrist” my big toe. Let’s call them what these “centrists” always turn out to be, Uniparty (R) backstabbing hacks.
With my humble apologies...:)
By the way, spot on with your post!
The whiners about the budget are the same as the whiners about Gaza.
Be strong, stick to doing the right thing, don’t listed to the loud braying of people who hate America.
The RATS never had a centrist DemonRAT speaker therefore, we’ve never had a bipartisan Speaker. Why the hell would we need one now?
A centrist Republican? We have had one of those for at least 30 years and now we are 32 T in debt.
Step aside RINOs, the game is OVER. If this is the hill they want to die on so be it.
Those of us who grew up watching Sesame Street will get the reference haha
Dang thing is echoing in my mind now...I am going to listen to “Sparrowhawk” to drown it out!
Ain’t nobody got time for that ‘bipartisan’ B/S.
I want a Speaker who won’t drive me crazy. One who knows the meaning of, “Democrat, hit the highway.”
So now, 208 Democrats and eight moderate Republicans can select the next Speaker.
Those 8 republicans is all they’ll need and get. How many others will stay with Jordan out of fear of being primaried? We’ll need a floor vote to see who the naysayers are. Probably several ready to retire anyway.
A centrist gets us the likes of Mittens or even worse Eddie Munster
We have a group radical fringe Republicans refusing to vote for Jim Jordan.
a bi-partisan speaker is a failed speaker.
Bipartisan Speaker = Let the leftists rule.
