HEALTH Infectious disease doctor says COVID testing is vital this fall as symptoms are less severe or obvious minnesota BY MARIELLE MOHS

MINNEAPOLIS -- Flu season is well underway and now it's partnered up with the latest worldwide virus, COVID, as our "new normal."
However, the impact of the virus for many is less severe.
"I don't think there's going to be a public health recommendation for masking. It's just too potentially controversial," said Dr. Frank Rhame, an Allina Heath Infectious Disease Physician.
Rhame says mandatory masking isn't coming back, even though COVID isn't going away.
Rhame says the virus is constantly mutating and changing, so if people want to protect themselves from it, it's recommended to get vaccinated annually, just like we do with flu season.

“Money money money”
I read last week that vaccine-maker’s stock prices have fallen recently. I suspect that is the reason for the latest push for everyone to get tested and vaccinated for a virus that now shows few or little symptoms and you might not even know you have.
Will the number of flu cases this winter once again drop off the scale as everyone who is ill is diagnosed with Covid instead?
No, not taking the bait. Sorry. You're just a little too obvious, doncha know? You'll have to work out your existential angst with someone else. :-)
So why is testing vital?
That’s right, it doesn’t!
if you don’t mind me asking; did you have any other symptoms?
after my workout and grocery shopping on Saturdays was feeling woozy and fatigued, when I went to bed Saturday night, I got super hot over my whole body, but absolutely no perspiration.
on Sunday I took my blood pressure and it was highly elevated (for me) 177/101.
It stayed elevated all day, today it is still elevated 148/91. I’m usually 124/65
I’ve never had the vaccine or the vid.
It’s not a new normal. As is with all genetic shifts, there was a spike and epidemic and it has settled. It’s nothing at this point. Sadly, some physicians particularly next gen physicians are more interested in equity and panic and have either not been instructed in medical history and scientific methodology instead majoring in politics.
This is the larger issue. How it came to be is a larger argument that will never be resolved. But that is not our lane. Covid 19 was a generic shift, whether artificially made or truly natural. But it is over. And over on the proper epidemiological time line.
Only one of kids got the shot. She wisely skipped all but the first. We’ve all gotten the glorified flu.
One of my kids was an over the road trucker. He caught it while on the road and spent two days in his sleeper cab then a couple at a hotel.
My daughter brought something home. Started with a deep, unproductive cough. No fever. I slept for 3 days
She got real whoozy at work and had to go to the hospital and missed 3 days at work
My BP has been 110/70 for over a year. I’ve fought hypertension for 35 years and have lost an entire bodys worth of weight
Got to the point I was way low so he took me off meds. He just quadrupled the dosage I used to take
If the symptoms are less severe or obvious, then testing is not needed because *Covid* won’t be an issue for the vast majority of people.
My sister had surgery and got an infection. She went to Urgent Care and they tested for Corona, OF COURSE. Positive, so she went home and took the Corona pills for two weeks, which did ZERO, as she got more and more ill. A second doc finally had her come in again and she got the correct meds and felt better in one day.
With the current fall bout of Covid making the rounds, did you get another booster for this version of Covid? Or are you comfortable with what you’ve had already to provide sufficient protection? Just trying to figure out if it’s worth it if over 65 and no comorbidity issues. Not interested in the heart related side effects, though they’re very rare.
Take something made in china out of it’s protective, sterile wrapper and shove it way up my nose?
Are you testing or infecting?
Either way no, I’m good, thanks.

Infectious disease doctor are infectious diseases.
I did not. I am comfortable that the genetic shift has run its course. What we are left with is the ability to name the virus causing the cold. It is simply not something worth vaccinating against in the overwhelming portion of the population. I don’t even bother testing for it as it is not something I see as a primary issue in the critically ill.
If someone wants to know so they can get Paxlovid so be it. But I see no purpose in testing as I think the risks of treatment are equal to the benefits. I have yet to order a Covid test this season. There are those who will for diagnostic purposes i suooose but I can’t find a good reason to test at this point for what is accurately described as the sniffles.
